Publisher's Summary

The greatest joy and fulfillment are within your reach, but they require an enduring promise to the one - someone you might not expect. It's not your boss, spouse, children, or others. No, the ultimate commitment is the promise you make to yourself to discover your purpose and gifts and share them with the world.

Everyone has been hurt or negatively impacted by broken promises. Promise-breaking and a lack of integrity are symptomatic of the most chronic illness faced by society today. Even though many leadership courses and ethics programs tout integrity as a buzzword, few of us are really assessing our own values unless someone calls us out on a discrepancy.

But even when others don't catch on to the façade, when our values aren't in alignment with our actions and when our actions aren't consonant with our gifts and passions, we're left feeling isolated, drained, and depressed. No recognition or acceptance from others can fill the void in the same way as when you keep a promise to yourself and actually follow through on it.

The promise is the highest level of engagement we commit to in any experience. The promise is greater than a goal; it's a sacred commitment. It's complete dedication to identifying your signature moves - the unique talents you've been given - that, when developed and used to better others lives, make you a legendary leader.

What choices do you make when no one is watching?

How do you approach a decision that requires you to let either yourself or someone else down?

How do you stay committed to your values, even when the less-rewarding path is more convenient?

A renowned speaker and performer who has helped audiences worldwide appreciate what accountability really means, Jason Hewlett shares his program for self-discovery and taking ownership of your gifts in The Promise to the One. His unique three-step method "identify, clarify, magnify" will enable you to pinpoint your strengths, shape them into an identity to which you commit, and develop them so that they can improve others’ lives as well as your own.

Filled with Jason’s signature wit and vulnerability as well as actionable exercises, this book will help you refine your character and reach your dreams through the power of kept promises.

Start your journey to living a life of promise-making and keeping…beginning with The Promise to the One

Good book, great message

This is a good book. Jason does well performing and helping to promote self improvement. I find the biggest challenge is building you own confidence without becoming selfish but rather selfless. There are good principles in the book and I will encourage all of my family to listen.

Inspiring. Your conscience in your ears.

The Promise to the One is an excellent and inspiring book on the fundamentals of character and integrity. It's an applied book - taught primarily though stories and anecdotes, with questions and opportunities to apply the principles to your life. The author (also the narrator) is an accomplished speaker and former entertainer. I've been fortunate to see his live keynote before, and thus was interested in this book. You will hear stories of an artist walking away from a multi-million dollar contract in Vegas because it would violate his personal ethics; the harrowing experience of being shot at in a Chinook helicopter while giving his time to perform for troops overseas; and the touching simplicity of quiet acts of service for a neighbor, like shoveling snow when no one will notice. Most of all, you will learn to look within yourself at what your personal brand is - your integrity - what Hewlett calls the Promise. I honestly felt like it was the voice of Jiminy Cricket in my mind - "and always let your conscience be your guide." An entertaining, inspiring, and spiritually edifying read/listen. Highly recommend!

Excellent book and performance!

Just finished listening to this book and loved it. I've seen Jason perform live and he is on the top of his game as he reads and performs in this Audible book. The book teaches some very powerful leadership principles and Jason uses personal examples and stories to help us understand and apply them. He gets vulnerable sometimes, which makes it even more engaging. He also breaks into performing many times during his reading, which I absolutely loved! I laughed out loud more than a few times! A great book. I highly recommend it. I also watched the first chapter in its video book option. It is the best way to enjoy his masterpiece by seeing him perform it! A great idea for a long flight to learn and be entertained.

Time-Proven Principles with the Power of Promise

Jason does a masterful job of sharing time-proven principles with refreshing application. As we learn to keep the promise to the one we are with 24/7, we can learn to accomplish what we desire. Applying the concepts shared in The Promise to the One can change you and bring promise to your life. Even though this book comes out at a time of isolation due to a pandemic, we can promise to continue to care for others around us in new ways. Jason, thank you for sharing your promise to the one.

I’m a better person after listening.

I’m glad I did the audio book instead of the read. The author’s humor came alive with him reading this. This was a fun, inciteful, and inspiring book. Loved it! Thank you Jason

A remarkable book performed in an amazing way

I don’t normally take notes in audio books. I don’t normally listen more than once. This book changed that for me. I took notes inside the app on key ideas about living a more fulfilled life, a life that honors my promise. Not to the world, to myself. It’s simple really. A promise is more important and more strong than a goal. What are my promises to me, the ones I’ve wanted to keep but haven’t? What’s happened to my integrity, my wholeness, with myself and how do I get it back? What gifts do I have that I’m hiding from the world because someone long ago powered up on me and I listened? This book inspired me to do more with my life. To make the lists of my gifts and stop hiding them from the world. And Jason Hewlett expertly performed this book. I’m sure the print book is good. But the audio is remarkable!! His voice and his heart touched my mind and my soul. What a great book!!

Great and Inspirational Listen - Do it!

I listened to this over a weekend while on a road trip and loved it! Jason Hewlett has a unique way of teaching and inspiring us. (He must have known when he first noticed his large mouth in the mirror that incredible things were meant to come out of it.) I was particularly inspired by his courage to "bust through" what he had at one time thought success looked like because it didn't line up with the promises he made to himself. It really cleared the way for an even better and more impactful path for him. If you are at a crossroads or trying to get clarity on how to show up in your life this is a mush read.

The Promise of Greatness Lies Within This Book!

The Promise to the One by Jason Hewlett is your personal guide to greatness. In this audio book you go on a journey with Jason as he gives examples of how you can identify, clarify and magnify your signature moves and talents. He shares various stories from his life and career with eloquence and humor to keep the listener engaged. It is so much fun to hear this book performed in his own voice along with his impressions which really draws you in. But what I really love about this book are the tools he gives you to start living your promise to world. There is an online guide that you can use in conjunction with this book to start identifying your talents so you can start reaching your maximum potential. His methodology really resonates with me and this is a great listen. The physical book is great companion piece to structuring your promise. I can't recommend this audio book more. Make it a goal, wait, make it a promise to listen to this book!
