Publisher's Summary

Some believe the old adage, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire". Well, in some instances the smoke is just a coverture for secrets. Dark ones.

Ragee is a successful R&B singer, music composer, and actor who shot to fame and celebrity at rocketing speed. He has the voice, the troubled soul, the seductive look, and the alluring mystique, all of which give him the traditional packaging of a soulful rhythm and blues singer. But he also has an unshakable stigma attached to his stardom that won’t seem to go away.

Wynter Blue thought she was taking control of her world the day she up and quit her job. As a social service professional, she was done with helping afflicted adult men to right their paths in life. She was ready to live for her. Finally. She wanted to pursue her dreams and stretch the bounds of her creativity. Little did she know, the day she walked out of her job was the very one she’d run into the shroud of smoke. His smoke.

Awfully familiar with secrets herself, Wynter questions if she can handle Ragee’s darkness while trying to bring him into the light of truth.

Disclaimer: The Rhythm of Blues is book one of a two-book series. This series is for mature audiences only. This installment is a full-length novel containing profanity, erotica, and sensitive sexual content. It ends on a cliffhanger. If you do not like dark, racy romance, this literary venture is not for you.

Audio very poor quality

I have read and reread every book published by Love Belvin and was anxiously awaiting for her books in audible. She is a phenomenal writer, however, I can’t finish listening to this audio book. It sounds like it was recorded in someone’s basement and it’s amateurish at best. I am so disappointed because when I saw a Love book was available in audible I immediately purchased. I’m selective with how I spend my credits so I jumped on this one right away. I have only made it through about an hour of the book and I really don’t know if I can take anymore of the poor quality. It’s a shame because it is such a good book. Maybe next time the quality will be better. I love audible because I listen during my commute and while I work out but after experiencing the first hour of this book I can’t listen during my commute. I’m and avid reader and listener so I know what quality sounds like and this ain’t it. I recommend reading this book instead of listening to it. Like I said, Love Belvin is an exception storyteller so you won’t go wrong reading any of her books. I recommend starting at the beginning with Lost in Love the LIP series and move on from there.

Sound Quality

Let me start by saying that this is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite books/stories and I was super excited to see it available on Audible! I still enjoyed thw stoery but the sound quality of the female narrator's part was not good. It sounded far off or like the recording space wasn't sound-proofed. I thought it would get better as the book went on, but it continued for the whole book. I still recommend because I do love the book, but just be advised of the sound quality. Hopefully it will get fixed or at least be better when Book 2 is released.

Honesty

I have read this series at least 3 times, and I’ve imagined the characters voices and Ragee’s voice singing. I was disappointed when this narrator could not sing it took away from the character. There were a lot of long pauses and the narrators sounded to be in a big open room. I know this is the first trial with audible and it can only get better! Love you are a dope author.

Better Production Needed

Loved the story but the production was wacked. Far too many long pauses and dead air.

Love the Story Can't Wait for Part 2 on Audible

The two narrators are new to me and I believe this was a great first effort. Truly bring to life the characters. I am hopeful that Love Belvin bring book two to audible along with the remainder of her catalog. Now the story ... WoW. Such an amazing read. The author’s voice and delivery of this story is so unique drawing a vivid picture with her word choice. She made you be annoyed with Ragee in the beginning yet understand him by the end. Wynter development was felt throughout this read as well as she navigates a new way of living.

This is a longer read however it didn't feel like it. You will feel like you need each word to understand the why behind each character. Great work Love Belvin. 5 Stars across the board!!

Astonishing

YO! I read the reviews on this book before ordering and I was really intrigued. Let me tell you I was not disappointed! The audio was a bit questionable, but I could totally look past that because the story kept me wanting to keep listening. I was shaking my head, talking to myself, smiling, and just in awe! I loved Ragee’s spirituality! And the way his grandmother spoke into his life. Wynter was so patient. I liked the way their love grew even though it was out of some messed up circumstances. They were so passionate. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the way the story unfolded I was kinda shocked. I was mad the way the book ended and the next book is not on Audible!

Important notification for Casting

I am a major fan of Love Belvin and will read anything she writes.

However, this review is for the people who cast the narrators. PLEASE STOP CASTING NARRATORS WHO DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT DIALECT CREDENTIALS TO NARRATE DIFFERENT ACCENTS AND DIALECTS. It is very offensive and hard to listen through. I would rather imagine an accent as opposed to suffering through a poor rendition of an untrained Narrator. It is a major disservice to the author, Audible and the Narrators. I will continue this book outside of Audible. Thanks for listening.

Great story, terrible production

I loved the muted hopelessness series! Ragee was a wonderful character in that series so I decided to listen to this book.

As expected the story was fantastic.

The audio production was atrocious. I have no idea what in the world was going on here. It’s so bad it needs to be redone. It sounds like someone recorded it in their closet. So bad it was hard to listen to, mostly winters character.

Hopefully they re-record it professionally, because it is embarrassingly bad.

The story was great!
