Publisher's Summary

When Eat, Pray, #FML was published, it quickly found its audience, a worldwide tribe of women who fiercely followed Gabrielle into the fiery pits of heartache, the sometimes-ugly valleys of depression, on the roller-coaster highs and lows of solo travel, and into the depths of what it really means to love yourself - healing.

As book fans demanded more and Eat, Pray, #FML became the heartbreak Bible, it was clear that Gabrielle would need to deliver a sequel - but not just any sequel. A sequel that would have all the wild love affairs, the devastating heartbreaks, the magic of solo travel, and the captivating drama we think only exists in the untamed novels we read.

The Ridiculous Misadventures of a Single Girl gives listeners an intimate look into what Gabrielle went through when she returned home from her grand European adventure, the challenges she faced as she tried to put the pieces back together, the men - new and old - who shook her world, and the epic conclusion to the real-life story so many have become invested in.

Filled with all the characters you fell in love with, new triumphs and setbacks, a soul-defining journey to the other side of the world, and answers to all of your burning questions, this is The Ridiculous Misadventures of a Single Girl.

Due to the mature language and content, this book is recommended for listeners18+.

Disappointed

I really enjoyed the first book and was hoping for it to be somewhat similar, if not more inspiring since she’s in her 30s and will give a more mature perspective about life and relationships but it fell so flat.

Her story was unremarkable this time around and I felt like I was listening to a high school teenager complain about two boys in her life and she couldn’t figure out who she wanted. It’s super cringe and I wasted my time listening to this and painfully finished it cause I fast forwarded and listened to it 4X the speed since I already started it. Would not recommend.

I loved it! what a great addition. I was also very taken aback by how it took the blinders off for me in my own relationships.

Meant to Be

This and ‘Eat, Pray, #FML’ came into my life at the perfect moment. I reached out to Gabrielle after I finished EPFML to let her know how much her first book affected me and could not wait to read (or listen to) the 2nd instalment. I was not disappointed. I am now making my own plans to go on a solo journey of self love and discovery and cannot thank her enough for her vulnerability and truth.

Wonderful read!!

What a great book

First you have to read Eat Pray FML, to really understand the context of this book- but both books are so amazing and eye opening. I went through a very similar experience to Gabrielle which lead me to these books. I couldn’t wait for the second book. I espeically love that the audiobook is narrated by her. She has a podcast that’s awesome as well (FML talk)- and extra props to her being the most down to earth human being ever. I sent her a DM to tell her how much I enjoyed her book and we had an entire conversation. You can tell she’s an amazing person. I really enjoyed this book and if it wasn’t for such a good ending I would be sad that it ended.

Way too much hippie jibber jabber

This book could've been about 70% shorter. She goes on and on over every tiny detail on every single thought and emotion that she has. All of which are all about her, and what she needs and she deserves, without much thought to what the men in her life need and deserve. But the part where she's traveling around Asia is good.

A bit of a disappointment after her first book

Like you, I was desperate to know what happened to Gabrielle after her Europe trip, so I dove into this book. In Eat, Pray, FML, the story itself was so good that I didn’t notice quality of writing. This book…I can’t say the same. She’s pretty trite and self affirming. She speaks like she is super enlightened while simultaneously justifying making terrible decisions. The poor grammar and repetitive rhetoric were pretty irritating, as well. I think her editor really let her down in that department. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to know what happened, and I found out, but she should have waited to write the sequel. As of now, we know who she “ended up with,” but the ending is all so fresh. I hope she is really happy and doesn’t have write a third book anytime soon because life is just good, but the theme in this book was that she healed from a lifetime of trauma in a super short amount of time. Maybe not the healthiest lesson to her readers, and I’m guessing it probably isn’t true.

And this is petty, but I swear she used the word “human” no fewer that 300 times, which was extremely irritating. It’s worth the read (listen), but don’t expect to be as satisfied as you were with Eat, Pray, FML.

CHILLS.

Gabrielle is the definition of authenticity, and I am here for it every 👏🏻 freaking 👏🏻 day. Her voice clarity and articulation, and storytelling skills blew me away in both novels. Listening to her books have honestly made me a better listener as a human, for I was glued to my headphones with tunnel vision focus (LOL). This sequel had me hooked in the beginning, middle, and the end gave me chills that ill remember forever. She is powerful and genuine, finding a way to relate to anyone in her audience. I felt genuinely connected to her the entire time I listened to her journey, and am inspired to take initiative in writing about my own. All I can say is “thank you” to her; she is truly a beautiful soul. 💜

It’s getting silly at this point…

Let me preface this by saying I really enjoyed book one. It was a ride along adventure. Book 2 is a whine fest of how she treats a man like crap over and over, finds herself, and then they live happy ever after. All I could think about was the poor kid they involved over and over. A mess. A hot mess.

Not my favorite

Nothing frustrated me more than hearing her glorify each man while she went back and forth between them. Felt like she needed more time heal alone. Felt so disappointed as if she was my sister or friend. Lol
