Story
Once upon a time, in a parallel universe, there existed the continent of Triton. The land was filled with beauty, but it was also splintered by war. Out of the chaos grew a conspiracy to reawaken the Beast, a fearsome creature who wrought only tragedy and devastation. The only way to stop him was to fulfill an ancient prophecy: Triton’s four strongest warriors must wed its four most powerful witches, binding all nations together and finally bringing peace to the land.

Publisher's Summary
From the unparalleled imagination of New York Times best-selling author Kristen Ashley comes Book Four in The Rising, an enchanting new fantasy romance series that will sweep you away!
This is the story of their unions: the quiet maiden Silence and the savage king Mars. The cold warrior Cassius and the fiery witch Elena. The steadfast soldier True and the banished beauty Farah. And the pirate king Aramus and the mysterious queen Ha-Lah. Their unions will not be easy, but each couple must succeed, for the fate of their world is at stake....

Absolutely terrible
This is not an epic fantasy it is a romance with fantasy moments in between. The only part of this novel that is written well are the sex scenes. The rest has so many holes it gets annoying really fast. The full cast is amazing on the other hand and absolutely wasted on this garbage.

Weak end of a good series
Overall, I quite like Kirsten Ashley books. This 2nd parallel universe series has a lot in common with the first, including cameo appearances of the first 4 couples. I also like the group production but agree with some reviewers that the accents are inconsistent and contrived and they sometimes interfere with the narration. Thus, the listener must get used to characters sounding different with different narrators. The climactic battle scene left out several details, such as the creation of a demon army, thus it was a little confusing. The end of the battle didn't involve the heroes, thus it was anticlimactic. There is another hour of epilogue after the battle, thus the reader has lots to listen to where nothing much happens. Ashley's frequent use of a certain word becomes grating, thus I am lowering my rating.

🌻It’s KA, what else needs to be said!🌻
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 I’m always in awe of KA’s talent. She writes wonderfully developed stories about wonderfully developed characters. In addition, her ability to write in so many genres, floors me. I’ve never stumbled across another author who has a gift as special as hers. She really has a beautiful mind with an exceptional gift of imagination. This series has a lot of characters and it’s not one that you can have only half your focus on. There is a lot of detail and you’ll miss the true magic if you don’t give it your full attention. It is so worth your full attention. There are sex scenes but they’re not overly explicit. There is M/M and M/FM but it isn’t pornographic, in nature. There is also some violence that is descriptive, but it’s not done in poor taste. This is an absolute, must listen, if you love romance and fantasy. The narration is really quite something. The huge cast of talented narrators is impressive. The one thing that could have made it perfect would have been to have the narrators perform the book like a play, with each narrator performing only their character, instead of each narrator performing the entire chapter based on the chapter’s POV. I can only imagine what a production like that would take to arrange and can imagine that it would be cost prohibitive but, it would have really been something else. Thank you, KA, for sharing your gift with the world. I will continue to add every one of your releases, to my library, as soon as it released.

Really Enjoyed This Series
There are some REALLY...uncomfortable parts in the telling of this journey and I believe that was done purposely to illustrate the atrocities in order to invoke feelings of anger, fear, empathy, sympathy, and a need to champion the heroes. I feel THAT is the mark of an exceptional writer; to tell a story that turns its readers topsy-turvy with emotional turmoil and then gifts them with loves that conquer all in the end. I feel the purpose of this story was to allow us, the readers, to see the barbarities being portrayed against innocents as the ultimate evil not as something she thinks is entertaining or enjoyable but as something that needs to be vanquished...by vengeance, justice, & love. Which makes ALL of the couples both main and secondary characters and their relationships relevant. Whether you agree or disagree, there are many kinds of love and the author did an amazing job of representing and telling those stories equally and objectively even with the thought of making her readers uncomfortable. I’m glad I was able to see the story as a whole and magnificent journey (both series) of courage, love, upset, defeat and loss, to victory and beyond. Great job! Thanks! Looking forward to the next journey!

I Loved it
Why Teddy??? WHHHYYYY! I am so looking forward to the Mystics. I want everyone from these books to show up. Fray, Apollo, Tor,and the beautiful Laun too. I appreciate the different narrators although sometime they crossed over and it got a little confusing, everybody needs to stay in their appointed lanes. I so wanted Teddy to come back and that whole threesome had a whole lot of chains in the face going on. In the end I was sorry that Teddy's dad didn't man up . I was sad to see it end. I did think damon was gonna go out with a bang, that was a bit anti climactic . Amazing..... the author in this series hit gold from start to end. It didn't get boring and repetitive like the magic series.

Satisfying completion
Still not for anyone with trigger issues about rape, or anyone who is extremely sexually shy. This book really needs you to have read the first three books in the Rising series. The Rising series is best enjoyed if you’ve read Ashley’s Fantasyland series as the main characters from the first four books show up. It is not essential, it just adds more to the story. Unfortunately, the Publisher’s Summary just gives a generic blurb about the series, not specifics about this book. Prince Cassius, Princess Elena and their troops choose to surprise their enemies with an immediate assault to attempt escape. It takes magical intervention to bring them the necessary help to survive. The losses prove painful. Cass has many uprisings to quell to make the changes in Airen. We find out who Queen Silence’s biological father is. Teddy rescues his fellow hostages and we find out the larger part he has to play, and how close the gods are to their creations. It takes all our heros and heroines to battle the Demon who has returned prepared with a strategy. If there is a series with Serena and Chu I believe I’ll have to read it - I’m 9 books in and invested in what happens to these characters. I’m glad I was moved to binge on Fantasyland (Audible Escape!) before restarting The Rising series and in prep for this final installment. Gotta say I really love the multiple cast recording, but there was some slipping in this installment in not using the right character voices to match the dialogue. Attn Audible Tech Support: This is my 3rd attempt to submit my written review. I originally submitted both my starred and written reviews 2/26/20 8:42pCT but only the starred review posted.

There are no words on how epically good this series is. It’s like Game of Thrones but better! These characters pull on you heart strings. You cheer, fight and grieve along with them. KA has raised the bar so high with this series. It literally has everything a person can ask for in a romance series. Amazing plot, interesting characters, mystery, adventure, love, and hot hot steam (off the charts)! All the narrators deserve awards for the narration of this series. This is hands down the best narrated series I’ve ever listened to. Well done! Can’t wait for the next series to release (The Mystics) so we can get more!!

Ehh
Ok this was not my favorite KA story; it was ok maybe if it were an actual book, I don't know it fell flat for me. It took me forever to get through it; I'd lose interest and would have to rewind it because with all the moving parts, characters, and accents I surely missed something. It was exhausting it just wasn't for me. It would have been much better if it were 3 different books foe each couple. And why Tedre/Teddy??? He grew on me I didn't initially like him and when I started to love him :-( I was super annoyed!! The audio was helpful in distinguished what couple/story was being told.

The Best Series Ever!!
I absolutely loved each and every book! each character, their story lines, the narrator's, and most importantly the final volume of the series did Justice to the build-up to the nemesis. but I truly truly enjoyed the fact that the story lines were either closed, let you know those who made it how their lives continued on, endor let you know there may be future adventures for a few of the characters. This is a series I'm sure in a year so I'll pull out and listen to again.! excellent excellent job Kristen Ashley!!

I really enjoyed the new world and vibrant characters Kristen developed for us. Her creativity and brilliant narrative impress me every time I read her books. The actors are really very good and performed beautifully, however the accents sometimes got in the way of clear and understandable speech. It is only a small blip, and did not harm my full appreciation of this production. With warm appreciation for a job well done by all...
