Publisher's Summary

Bill Gates, whose vision of the personal computer propelled Microsoft into one of the world's leading companies, astonished the business community in 1996 by abruptly reinventing his entire company around the Internet.

Gates explains why the Internet has revolutionized not just Microsoft but everything else too - and at a faster pace than even he had anticipated. He describes the implications for everybody of a world connected by interactive computer networks and addresses our most pressing questions.

  • How will our lives change?
  • What about our children?
  • How long will it take?
  • What are good opportunities?
  • Will our jobs become obsolete?
  • How should we prepare?
  • What about privacy?

Clear-eyed, candid, and ultimately reassuring, Gates shows how the new tools of the Information Age are transforming forever the way we buy, work, learn, communicate, and have fun together.

The Road Ahead is Gates' bird's-eye view of the undiscovered territory ahead - an authoritative and thought-provoking guide for the journey.

A Storyline Out of Date or a Reflection?

Looking to hear from the master himself (Bill Gates), I selected this book. However, I have to say that I was disappointed. My advice, if your looking for future insight on the tech world, or an up to date recollection on the tycoon's great life than this book is not it. Content is really just a reflection, to me anyway, of how far we have come and where we have been in tech. Made me grateful for email and smart phones I guess :)

This book is no longer relevant

Out dated information. This book is worth reading in 1995 or so. It is not worth reading in 2015. Not worth the time spent.

loved it can't wait to read more books buy Bill G.

absolutely love the information that I learned about the internet from this book I suggest that everyone read this book and I suggest we come together as a people and use the information in this book to see the evil that is being done over the internet to see how in 1993 Bill Gates predictions of the internet so many came true even the most terrible horrible predictions he made are now seemingly facts in today's society it's mind-blowing

    Insightful

Bill Gates was clearly a few steps ahead of his time. As evidenced by this book.
