Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting it, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying; I’m just peeling an onion.)

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

The Wheatons are infamous among the east coast elite for their lack of impulse control, except for their daughter Clara. She’s the consummate socialite: over-achieving, well-mannered, predictable. But every Wheaton has their weakness. When Clara’s childhood crush invites her to move cross-country, the offer is too tempting to resist. Unfortunately, it’s also too good to be true.
After a bait-and-switch, Clara finds herself sharing a lease with a charming stranger. Josh might be a bit too perceptiv - not to mention handsome - for comfort, but there’s a good chance he and Clara could have survived sharing a summer sublet if she hadn’t looked him up on the Internet....
Once she learns how Josh has made a name for himself, Clara realizes living with him might make her the Wheaton’s most scandalous story yet. His professional prowess inspires her to take tackling the stigma against female desire into her own hands. They may not agree on much, but Josh and Clara both believe women deserve better sex. What they decide to do about it will change both of their lives, and if they’re lucky, they’ll help everyone else get lucky, too.
What the critics say
“What an incredible debut! Danan gives us strangers to annoyed-roommates to kinda-friends to angsty-pining to finally-lovers with humor, wit, and just a hint of pathos. Josh and Clara are easily my favorite ‘smash the patriarchy’ couple, and The Roommate is easily one of my top romance reads of 2020!” (Jen DeLuca, author of Well Met)
"The Roommate is laugh-out-loud funny, bananas sexy, and deeply romantic. Danan’s voice is fresh and sharp, and the romance between Clara and Josh is both sizzling hot and heartwarming. Everything I want in a romance." (Andie J. Christopher, USA Today best-selling author)
"Nuanced, funny, super steamy and surprisingly tender, The Roommate raises the bar for rom coms in 2020 - a smashing debut, and I can't wait for more by Rosie Danan!" (Evie Dunmore, author of Bringing Down the Duke)

This was a nice ride. I was pleasantly surprise and happy to discover that the characters had baggages and development. Reading the resume you kind of assume that it will be intoxicatingly smutty or disgustingly hot but no the « hum hum » is nice and lovingly. This book was very interesting and had a male main character who was quite different than other male main characters (no spoilers) in rom coms and I LOVED it. Clara and Josh were amazing and their chemistry was off the charts. The book touched on many different important topics and the character growth is epic. I found myself laughing out loud and getting very attached to these characters, including the side characters (heck yes Naomi). I am really looking forward to more by this author.

Steamy and fun
I really loved this book. I downloaded it not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. It was cute, romantic and steamy from beginning to end. I'm usually not into cutesy romance but the author pulled it off very well without making it too cheesy or timid. The narrators also did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. When I first heard the male narrator's voice it didn't fit my imagination and I was a bit off put but he turned my opinion around with a great performance. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Funny, sweet and oh so sexy!
Clara Wheaton moved all the way to LA to room with her crush from childhood. What better way than convincing him that they should be together than being roommates first?
Her plan backfires as soon as she gets to California. Turns out Everett, her childhood crush is in a band and they're leaving - like right away. Her roommate now is someone she doesn't even know and she's not sure how to feel about it. Clara eventually finds out that her new roommate Josh is a pleasure professional and she's not entirely sure how to feel about that initially.
Enter Josh - oh Josh. Josh has got to be one of the best book boyfriend there is. He's so sweet and caring and really tries to get to know Clara better. I love that there was such a deep emotional connection between the two of them. They knew each others hopes and dreams and didn't mock them, instead tried to elevate each other.
This book was HOT HOT HOT. The sex scenes had my kindle steaming! I don't want to give the plot away too much - but I absolutely love the way the sex was portrayed in The Roommate. Sex isn't something that should be ashamed of or made to feel "dirty," and I love the way Rosie Danan is able to portray that in The Roommate.
The Roommate had everything that I love to read in a romance. It had the perfect amount of sexual tension mixed with scenes that had me laughing. At the same time I also have so many scenes highlighted that had my heart completely in my throat. I felt giddiness, excitement, angst, happiness and longing from this wonderful book.

I loved listening to the audiobook of The Roommate. Teddy Hamilton is a favorite narrator and he did such a wonderful job voicing Josh! I was able to feel all of Josh's emotions - laughter, pain and joy! Brittany Pressley was the perfect voice for Clara! I loved how in the beginning of the book she was so uncertain and by the end she had come into her own. Teddy Hamilton and Brittany Pressley were the perfect duo! They did a perfect job voicing Clara and Josh. I'm sure I'll be listening to this audiobook again in the very near future.

Coulda been a contender
This was a cute, fun light read. I thoroughly enjoyed 75% of this book. The premise of the good girl socialite with low self esteem and the porn star with low self esteem was good. There were a lot of missed opportunities. There's a point I came to the realization that it wasn't going to get there. Clara never really developed on the page. Josh never takes charge and shows her why he got paid the big bucks. The sex scenes were perfectly fine but given he's unusually experienced and she isn't at all..i really expected a scene or 2 showcasing that....otherwise he could of been a janitor. I struggled with the time and energy given to the family dynamics and expectation and never having any interactions with said families.
Now that its over Im not mad I listened to it..For the most part i basically enjoyed it...but I do a bit let down.
This was my first time listening to Brittany Presley. She carried this book and was absolutely fabulous.

They were a fantastic “opposites attract” couple, and their personalities complemented each other perfectly. I loved all of the playful, steamy moments they shared throughout the book. I appreciated the discussion of sex positivity, sex work, and prioritizing women’s pleasure. I enjoyed this book from start to finish, and I can’t wait to read Naomi’s book!

Eh
This book had so much potential. The story line is sweet but if you’re going to write about a porn star then I was expecting more heat and more drama!!! Even add some laughter in! This was a little on the boring side. I’m assuming her editor didn’t explain this to her....

Fun story but I really disliked one of the readers.
The male reader (who covered the chapters from the male protagonist’s POV) really took me out of the story. His voice came across as arrogant and smug. The way he voiced any female dialogue felt almost condescending, like the woman was dumb and breathy or a nag. I wish the while thing had been performed by the female reader.

Yes Yes Yesssss
This is officially my new favorite romance of all time. The narration was awesome. The story is incredible. I just bought the paper back so I can immediately reread this.

A definite must listen, so much more than a live story, but it was that too.
There are so many aspects of this story that I loved. At the heart of it, it highlights the uncertainty everyone faces in their lives with finding their own place in their world. Often people think they are headed in one direction and suddenly life happens and they find themselves turning down another path. This was written beautifully into the story, and was relatable and smartly written. Add in the pressure we feel to belong or meet expectations and finding a sense of self acceptance and love regardless of others or obstacles and this story added an interesting take on that. And finally the romance was everything I needed while listening. It had a great blend of anticipation, flirty moments, sexual build up and tension, and ultimately love all displayed in a way that was not only swoon worthy but subtle with its realistic portrayal. I ❤️ this story so hard. The narration was amazing, and so completely well done, it has duel POV and I feel that added greatly the the story telling. This is definitely a book that is credit worthy. It gets better with every chapter, believe me.
