The Scarecrow (Excerpt)

Written by: Michael Connelly
Narrated by: Peter Giles

Publisher's Summary

Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career.

He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

Jack is soon running with his biggest story since The Poetmade his career years ago. He is tracking a killer who operates completely below police radar--and with perfect knowledge of any move against him. Including Jack's.

Excerpts are a waste

I didn’t realize this was a five minute excerpt, waste of time, if it’s not at least an 45 min/ 1 hour or more, forget it! I Won’t be trying this again.

Excerpt

Not a book.
This is only a piece of a story that you can’t even delete from your library.
It didn’t make me want to buy the book either.
It made me want to avoid the author’s other titles and cuss Audible, audibly.

Excerpt?

Why? Where’s the whole book? I’m sure the book in its entirety will be great, but an excerpt is stupid.

BE CAREFUL ... this is a 5 minute snippet,

I'm in agreement w/ so many others, that this does not belong in the library at all. I've began with Audible in 2008, well before Amazon took over. Then, it was a great site, I could trust it and not feel I needed to double check what I was seeing. If this were on TV, it would be a commercial or a teaser. Yes, it says Excerpt, but silly me never thought they'd stoop to this level. Amazon has damaged the value of Audible, and this is an example of how diluted the content has become. It is no wonder they are giving it away. It is useless and should just go into the trash. Sorry, Michael Connelly. You just missed the chance to gain a fan.
