Definitely a different atmosphere then the original Shannara trilogy. This book has elements of a thriller/mystery. Really enjoyed the more intense narrative.

the heritage of shannara was a rather annoying read at times. It was darker and less fun than the first trilogy. A lot of the characters in this series were also less fun.
