Publisher's Summary

Poking a sleeping bear with a sharp stick is foolish. Marty Edwards is about to be very foolish.

Investigative reporter Marty Edwards has found her niche: cold cases. She loves poring over old notes, hunting down long-forgotten witnesses, and digging down through the layers of an unsolved murder case. But this time, Marty is digging where someone obviously doesn't want her. And that someone might also include the Brownsville Police Department. Why else would they assign Detective Kristen Bailey to baby-sit her?

Barely surviving two attempts on her life, Marty abandons Brownsville and the case. Danger follows her as the case turns red-hot. With Detective Bailey along for protection, they race along the Gulf Coast, neither knowing who, if anyone, they can trust. The hardest part is learning to trust each other before it's too late for their hearts - and their lives.

Author and Narrator never disappoint

The only bad thing about this book is that it wasn’t long enough!!! I never guessed who the bad guy was! Romantic scenes were steamy. Overall a great read.

Whoa! Wonderful book

I must say this book was so much fun and pulled at the old heart strings. Marty and Kristen chemistry 🧪 flowed naturally. The twist and turns of this particular mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. Abbey Craden did an amazing job as usual. Thanks Gerri!! On my way to get Storms ⛈

disappointing from Gerri Hill

Abby Craden is incredible as usual. But Gerri Hill was disappointing for this one. Predictable, unrealistic, and slow moving. Don't recommend.

Good book!

Interesting plot and likeable characters. Gerri Hill always finds a way to create fantastic stories. And of course, the narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and emotions alive. Highly recommended!

Love G. Hill thrillers & A. Craden elevates them!

I love this story. The characters felt grounded in not overly dramatic or angsty but human, flawed and real. The only issue that I can criticized is that Gerri Hill seems to have a pattern in which the main characters- SPOILER ALERT- have not deep ties nor are passionate about their careers. Maybe is a personal pet peeve because my career is such a defining and intrinsic part of my identity but it seems off that some many main characters can just shed that part of themselves and leave it behind.

Decent Characters and Storyline

Enjoyed the characters in this book. The storyline was good, but could have a little depth for the audience. The characters are very good and may warrant another adventure for the couple.

By far the best of Gerri Hill

This twisted tale leads the reader on an adrenaline fueled race that will bring you to the edge over and over until you gasp for breath...much like the two women in the tale. All I would add is, enjoy with a chilled glass of wine and a soft warm body.

Worth the wait

A slow burn romance that is well worth the wait. The action riveting. The intimacy is sensual. As usual the author and the narrator do a great job bringing the story to life. Absolutely a second listen.

This Has EVERYTHING!

Action, adventure, romance, mystery--and sex that sizzles. And all of the story arcs were carried off very nicely.
