Publisher's Summary

Poking a sleeping bear with a sharp stick is foolish. Marty Edwards is about to be very foolish.

Investigative reporter Marty Edwards has found her niche: cold cases. She loves poring over old notes, hunting down long-forgotten witnesses, and digging down through the layers of an unsolved murder case. But this time, Marty is digging where someone obviously doesn't want her. And that someone might also include the Brownsville Police Department. Why else would they assign Detective Kristen Bailey to baby-sit her?

Barely surviving two attempts on her life, Marty abandons Brownsville and the case. Danger follows her as the case turns red-hot. With Detective Bailey along for protection, they race along the Gulf Coast, neither knowing who, if anyone, they can trust. The hardest part is learning to trust each other before it's too late for their hearts - and their lives.

Author and Narrator never disappoint

The only bad thing about this book is that it wasn’t long enough!!! I never guessed who the bad guy was! Romantic scenes were steamy. Overall a great read.

Whoa! Wonderful book

I must say this book was so much fun and pulled at the old heart strings. Marty and Kristen chemistry 🧪 flowed naturally. The twist and turns of this particular mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. Abbey Craden did an amazing job as usual. Thanks Gerri!! On my way to get Storms ⛈

Good book!

Interesting plot and likeable characters. Gerri Hill always finds a way to create fantastic stories. And of course, the narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and emotions alive. Highly recommended!

Love G. Hill thrillers & A. Craden elevates them!

I love this story. The characters felt grounded in not overly dramatic or angsty but human, flawed and real. The only issue that I can criticized is that Gerri Hill seems to have a pattern in which the main characters- SPOILER ALERT- have not deep ties nor are passionate about their careers. Maybe is a personal pet peeve because my career is such a defining and intrinsic part of my identity but it seems off that some many main characters can just shed that part of themselves and leave it behind.

Gritty and fun!

Very interesting and different from most cop vs bad guys books. One should keep a certain amount of moral flexibility, which I loved. As well as a great love story taking a slow burning evolution for these great, strong female characters. Abby Craden brings these characters to life. I only wish the author would pick a name for these gals and stick to it, at first it was confusing for me.
I'd love to see them in a sequel, how about it Gerri?

Cold Cases Can Be Deadly.

Investigative reporter Marty Edwards came to Brownsville to look into the death of a teenager. Detective Kristen Bailey came to care for her mom. Now they cross paths in a case that becomes deadly. On the run and undercover they work to find the killer while growing more attracted to each other. Great performance and romantic adventure. Recommend.
