Great ensemble mystery

I have enjoyed this whole series and the narrator is very good. I especially enjoyed this book with the Christmas Carol backdrop with some of the most famous lines ever uttered along with all the usual cast of Crofters Green. I have become very fond of the main characters and side ones and enjoyed learning of all progress made within their lives and the bonds of trust that tie them. The back plot to this was a huge turning point for Britain and the allies and made a good story line to pursue. Throughout all the books it has made me think of my grandmothers and their ingenuity to feed their families during the war. The clothing rations and how people clubbed together to help each other. Dorothy reading in the tube station during an air raid really touched me as my father's family used to go there and wait knowing the sons were out fighting and hoping they still had a home left to go to afterwards. Although there is always a mystery the small nuggets of life during WW2 helped to keep me reading this series and appreciate previous generations for their every day bravery and stoicism. One thing I particularly enjoyed this time round was having more of Nigel's POV and a much happier man. Enjoyable series, thank you.

These stories just get better - I did have some issues with the way the narration went when the series started, but as I got used to it, it was fine and just the stories are so interesting. I can’t wait for the next one.
