Publisher's Summary

When the San Francisco ferry called Martinez collides with another ship in the fog and sinks, Humphrey Van Weyden, an intellectual and well-known literary critic, is one of the “lucky” survivors, set adrift in the Bay. He is eventually found by "Wolf" Larsen, the brutal and cynical sea captain of a seal-hunting schooner called the Ghost.

From then on, things will turn increasingly difficult and chaotic for Humphrey, especially when "Wolf" Larsen only lives for survival and pleasure. He rules over his ship terrorizing the crew, and has come to despise all human life. Larsen forces him to become a cabin attendant, do menial work, and learn to fight to protect himself from the brutal crew.

Through a series of dramatic and challenging events, Humphrey eventually learns to become tough and self-reliant.

Secretly, members of the crew are attempting a mutiny against Wolf Larsen.

Will they be able to kill Larsen?

Listeners will enjoy the transformational story of the protagonist in Jack London’s The Sea Wolf, a non-stop thriller that will keep you listening late into the night.
