Why does this have such a high rating?

I have no idea why this is rated so highly. The voice actors, especially B, are very annoying and I was cringing throughout the whole series. I do not recommend.

so entertaining, kept me interested throughout

loved it. The whole story , concept, actors. Reminded me of listening to the great stories on the radio as a child up in the cottage . Hope there will be more.

Best sci-fi this year!

The sound effects and recording quality were amazing! it felt like I was in the pod with them. seriously, a few times I took off my head phones to ensure the sound were from the story.
The characters were all great, and the sci-fi/spiritual elements were well done (and I'm an atheist).
I couldn't put it down!

A good ride

I wasn't sure about it at first. Parts feel pretty slow and similar, and to be honest I found B quite annoying in the get go. Then suddenly it grips you on an emotional rollercoaster and is hard to stop. Amazing voice acting, and a lot of truths to the human mind in this story. I liked it.

A great listen but a crappy format.

I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. It was immersive and easy to listen to. My only criticism is the way it was chopped up. I would have preferred to listen to it as a continual book. Very annoying to have to reach for my phone every 20 minutes or so to load the next chapter.

Had high hopes

The protagonist is trying too hard to be silly, she's annoying and it's disruptive to the tone that's been set.

A wild Sci-fi

First of all I want to say the audio of this story was perfect, I couldn't ask for a higher quality. This being said the story didn't suit my like all that much. I prefer stories that end with less mystery and are more upbeat. No need to add more isolation to an already isolating 2021 lockdown.

Wonderful, unforgettable characters and story.

Fully immersive sounds and performance, absolutely perfect. Didn't feel like narrators reading a book, it felt like you were in the story itself.

The chapters kept me guessing on what was next, and I really cared for the characters. Some unexpected twists and turns, combined with emotional story telling made this a fantastic experience.

Too annoying

Not at all realistic. I couldn't get past the second episode. There is no way people would act that unprofessional and reckless. It made the story unbelievable, which is a bummer because I love the genre

This changes things.

Audible originals used to let me down with the poor quality of sound effects in voice acting but this changes the game. The subscription actually feels more valuable if audible can produce great quality work such as this. The story was great the voice acting was even better. It is a little creepy that as I am writing this review one of the chapters played on its own. End dispatch.

Emotional dialog masquerading as Sic-Fi

There are a few elements of a sci-fi story in this series, but it is more so the two pioneering astronauts monologuing their inner thoughts to each other while they venture Enceladus. One is a cliche paternal figure with years of experience who is a by the book commander. The other is a bubbling marine biologist who may have had some substance if the character wasn't voiced so incredibly cringey and annoying. By any standard of professionalism, this character is completely ill-suited to have been selected for a mission like this. I am one of those people who unfortunately hold out hope until the last sentence of a book hoping that it can redeem itself. That pattern continued with 'The Sea In The Sky.' Two stars because I've read/listened to worse, but the shit voice acting for the main characters ruined it for me. And "Bee's" character was just so unfitting.

Outstanding

Story is fantastic so riveting, cast is wisely chosen and beautiful directed. You’re never strayed from what’s happening with every episode. Clear story telling with sound affects that paint a picture. The tape will make you laugh it will make you cry while making you grip tighter and tighter as tension is heated. As go deeper thinking you see what happens next a twist turns. I really hope they make a next season of episodes find out what happens to Bee next. I highly recommend and prepare for a dive of your life ❤️

Tough to stomach the characters

Seemed like the voice actors wanted to have a "Mark Watney feel" but it came off like two gushing teenagers on an adventure in tone... Listeners should give it a try with forewarning, so I'm warning you.

OMG, what a disaster

The "story" is basically two astronauts talking about their emotions. The tough-guy hot-shot cries at the drop of a hat. Possibly one of the worst examples of writing I have ever encountered. Instead of using action to drive the plot, it is all about feelings. It's supposed to be sci-fi, but probably three-quarters of it is the characters talking about their childhood, or whining about something from back on Earth.

This was excruciating, and the payoff was not remotely worth it.

Amazing story and interpretation ✨

I loved this podcast with all my heart ❤️ I enjoyed so much the main characters and narrators and development of the story.

I cried, I laughed, I smiled and I enjoyed each and every episode. Hoping for a second season ✨ I can imagine something like Journey to the center of the earth upside-down type of scenario.

I enter the audiobook world through being an avid podcast listener so the only thing I would recommend is for Audible to modify the form of listening to podcasts in this platform because it is not the same as listening to an audiobook and it is a little tedious to go out of each episode to find the other one instead of autoreproducing.

Annoying characters

I wanted to like this story, but the characters were incredibly annoying and unprofessional. I stopped at episode 2 because the story was not engaging. The production was well done but poor choices in the performance.

Elegant story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast series.

The story is beautiful with amazing character development and a story that keeps on growing and growing! Keeps you at the edge of your seat.

I hope there is a season two!
