I suppose, in a way, this is a version of Snow White, but, spoiler alert, I didn't realize this until almost the end of the story. And really, this novel is so much more. I hadn't read an Elemental Master book before, and I found the characters interesting, the details of setting extraordinary and comprehensive. The plot is part Snow White and part action adventure, but recast in Edwardian England, it is a well-paced read. I particularly enjoyed the 'political' enlightenment of the main characters. Not a literary tome, but fun and engaging.
