Publisher's Summary

Deepak Chopra, Debbie Ford, and Marianne Williamson - New York Times best-selling authors and internationally acclaimed teachers - have joined together to share their knowledge on one of the most crucial obstacles to happiness we face: the shadow. These three luminaries, each with a signature approach, bring to light the parts of ourselves we deny but that still direct our life. For it is only when we embrace our shadow that we discover the gifts of our authentic nature.

The shadow exists within all of us. It is a part of us and yet we spend most of our life running from it. But far from being scary, our dark side holds the promise of a better, more fulfilling life. Our shadow makes itself known every day. It is the reason we get furious over a friend showing up 10 minutes late, yell at our parents or kids when they have done nothing wrong, and sabotage our own success at the worst possible time. Until we are able to embrace our dualistic nature, we will continue to hurt ourselves and those closest to us and fall short of our potential.

Combining the wisdom of three experts, The Shadow Effect is a practical and profound guide to discovering the gifts of our shadow. These three authors powerfully pierce the veil of our unclaimed self, releasing us from the past and propelling us on a journey to wholeness. No longer living a half life, we are capable of achieving our dreams and reclaiming the happiness that is our birthright.

I can see myself whole

This book beautifully depicts the two aspects of the human spirit, soul, consciousness, or whatever it is that you wish to call it. It is a beautiful work that allows one to connect oneself fully with one’s mistakes. It’s a work that makes us closer to God, the gods, the Universe, or simply your higher self. This book to me was a blessing. I hope others find it as so.

Difficult to understand

This is a good book, but unfortunately the reader pronounces words different. It is difficult to understand a book with a different pronunciation if English is not your first language. :/

Good and bad

I enjoyed Deepak Chopra's take on the shadow effect and believe in his views. The second writer had similar views but I disagreed with some things. She has some good points however. The third writer I felt was a contradiction to the rest of the book. She talks about how we are all love and light and that we basically need to destroy our shadow side with love and light and god, bla bla bla. We are all dark and light, and our shadow side is a part of us, it's all balanced if we don't suppress our shadow side.
