The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen is a masterpiece of historical fiction, deserving of five stars for its engaging plot, rich character development, and immersive historical detail. Klassen delivers a story that is both emotionally compelling and beautifully paced, making it impossible to put down.

However, while the narrator delivers a solid performance, it doesn’t quite match the perfection of the story itself. The narration is good, but not exceptional, with some moments lacking the depth and nuance that could have elevated the audiobook further.

Overall, the book is a must-read (or listen), and despite the slightly less stellar narration, it’s a journey well worth taking.

I purchased this book for a 12 hour solo road trip I had to make. It was the perfect choice! The time flew by as I was drawn into the story. The narration and story line were both excellent. The book was over 15 hours long, so I was sad to reach my destination and wasn't sure when I could fit in the rest of the book. Made it a priority and was not disappointed. Would definitely recommend this book to others!

Spectacular novel! Klassen had me guessing the plot at every turn! Her characters are beautifully defined and her extensive research draws the reader/listener into the world of the story. Definitely worth your time!
