Publisher's Summary

Ever since the death of his father, poor Fellworth Dolphin has slaved away as a waiter to support his miserly, cold-hearted mother. When his mother suddenly dies, Fellworth is shocked to discover that she has left him a sizable inheritance. Confused, Fell teams up with Maggie, a plain girl with a similar background, to investigate the source of the riches. But what they find is a closet full of skeletons....

Is it really possible Fell’s father was involved in a long-ago train robbery? Who’s the mysterious woman in the portrait hidden in his mother’s wardrobe?

As Maggie and Fell poke around the village for answers, they find themselves on a surprise-filled path to danger and adventure, and - just possibly - love. But Fell’s sudden good fortune could come to an abrupt end if he doesn’t stay one step ahead of a cunning killer....

Delightful Story

I have listened to this audiobook at least 20 times and it never gets old. It's definitely charming, albeit a bit old fashioned, and the characters feel like old friends.

couldn't stop listening

I couldn't stop listening to this gift book sample. This writing and narration took my attention and, I expect, will again. I only wish it was the start of a series. Thank you Audible for this included gift.

A Delightful Book

I don’t review books, but I must recommend this one. I don’t read romances, usually preferring mysteries, but the romance in this mystery is its best feature, even though the mystery is great, too. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The narration by Clive Anderson is spot on. I will be choosing more by M. C. Beaton.

A pleasant romp

This is a cozy story and an easy listen. Nothing too stressful, nothing devastating, a little fun, a little intrigue, a little romance, a little suspense. Just the antidote for a stressful, often mean-spirited world. I liked it.

Delightful Story

The story was funny at times and a little heart wrenching at others. Fast listen with unforgettable main characters. If you like lighthearted British mysteries then this one is for you. The narrator’s voice was an excellent match to the story line. Very enjoyable read.

Light Hearted Story of “Dandelion Summer”

If you are interested in a light hearted mystery, then this will delight you. The story held my interest and was great background while cleaning. It is the “40 Year Virgin” amateur sleuth mystery in a “dandelion summer”.
