Publisher's Summary

The Sackett boys weren't out to make a reputation, it just happened that way. They had crossed Black Fetchen and lived to tell about it. Now Fetchen was coming for them with the most expensive hired guns in the country. But the Sacketts were no strangers to trouble. They knew what guns were and how to use them, and one thing was sure, when the showdown came, the Sacketts would be ready, and someone was going to die.

Enjoyable Series

Louis L'Amour has a way of bringing the old west and the settling of this country alive. I feel that the first 2-3 books in this series of about 17 or 18 books, were the best. The rest are entertaining and keep my interest, however they have become predictable. I will finish the series but take a break from going from one book to the next right away. If you like western fiction, you can't beat Louis L'Amour.

Great story, well read

Not my favorite sackett characters, but still awesome and an excellent read. Good narrator and great plot, as always from Louis Lamour.

Consistent L'Amour

I only have one complaint with this book. Most of the chapters have too much dead space between them. I did not time them but would guess they ran 15-30 seconds. Enough time to make you think the program had stopped.

Read the book, listening just multiplies my admiration of the Author.

I’ve read the whole Sackett Siri’s and enjoyed it 20 years ago and have loved rediscovering it today. I recommend any of his books because he is a great historian and based his work on the extensive collection of historical letters and Journals He collected over the years and put into his work. The narrators make a great effort to reflect the characters in their voices and I especially enjoy Galloway and Flagen.
