When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive....

As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.

Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbors are keeping secrets, and things are not as perfect as they seem....

Bland and boring

What ever happened to the good thriller? I usually enjoy the author and was so excited to buy this new release. It read like that new generation of what I call harlequin thrillers. Those quick fluffy reads that are so generic only the names are changed. The phrasing was so repetitive. The characters were not fleshed out at all and the protagonist was unlikable and uninteresting.

I am wholly disappointed and almost asked for a refund but didn't because my last purchase also was a bust and I did get refunded for that.

Not Remotely Compelling

A good mystery should hook you with well developed characters, an evocative setting and a compelling story. This book has none of these elements.

Most of the female characters are uninspired and juvenile, more like a nasty posse at a boarding school than a group of working mothers. (But then no one seems to work in this neighborhood.) The female lead is conveniently portrayed as dim-witted even though she’s supposed to be a translator of books - all to serve a weak and implausible plot that is so silly, it’s almost an insult to the reader.

I was really disappointed. The Therapist reads more like a tedious domestic drama than intelligent mystery.

As always thrilling and brilliant!

Every single book by B.A. Paris I devour in one sit. The narration by Olivia Dowd makes it all the better, I can’t put the phone down until I’ve finished the book.

Absolutely brilliant!

Not Horrible

It was relatively entertaining. There were way too many red herrings. I figured it out quite early on, but, then more red herrings! It wasn’t badly written, just not overly clever. Meh…

Love a good mystery...

This was a great mystery that kept me guessing until the end. The performance was delightful. However, the story did remind me of a tv series where each new part repeats some of the last part so no one missies anything, in that sense I found it a bit repetitious at times.

Disappointing

I loved the book Behind Closed Doors. It was so clever, and I was super excited for this one. However unfortunately this story was quite predictable and the narration was
not well done at all. It was very difficult to tell the diff in voices and who was talking which took you out of the story.

Underwhelming and Amateurish

Good if you need some background noise while mowing the lawn. The story is very amateurish and lame, and the narration can be too obnoxious. Her voice suddenly and inexplicably becomes too nasal and shrill.

The Therapist

Excellent.. Loved it. Suspenseful, a thriller and very well written. The narration was very good. I love and appreciated the fact that it had no foul language.

Disappointed

I pre-ordered this book after I read all of B.A. Paris's other books within only a week or two. I was very disappointed with the plot, the distinction between the characters, the overall narration, the build up, and especially the ending. I was really hoping to love the ending so that the hours I spent listening would've been worth it. Maybe next time B.A. Paris..

So good

Very good. Creepy and suspenseful although I kept being amazed how clueless she was but real people sometimes are that idiotic. Still it was such a good listen and I’ve been waiting for something that’s not the same old “The Girl….” genre.

Predictable But Not Bad

This book is not really as good as B.A. Paris's others, but it was an easy read. Very predictable plot line though sadly.

Don’t bother

This was a horrible plot. The main character is a dim witted selfish stupid girl. The plot is horrible. I only finished because I’d paid for it. The narrator had no inflection, did not make the story any better. Save your money.
