Publisher's Summary

My quest for answers is what’s led me here. Here, to the edge of civilization, where shifters are free from persecution and able to live in peace. Or at least they were until I arrived. In the aftermath of the trouble I brought, one man holds the answers I seek so desperately.

Whether he will part with his secrets, that’s another matter.

This world is not what I always thought it to be, and someone is doing their best to kill us all; when accidents continue to happen, I must consider the possibility that someone I love is setting me up. With the fate of the world at stake, I must face the demons of my past or risk being consumed by them. But this time, I’m not alone.

I'm Kit Davenport, and this is going to leave a mark.

Great

Love the story both written and on audio. Kit is a great MC and the narrator really brings her to life. Highly recommend

Still interesting...but FMC getting dumber

I didn't like this book as well as the last. I swear the FMC is getting dumber as this series goes along. She made some of the dumbest decisions and did super dumb stuff in this book it made me like her a lot less. It's making me wonder what the guys can see in her. She talks a big tough game but she's an absolute idiot and seems to always need help and saved. I guess I was hoping she'd grow up and get smarter as the series went on, and also be tougher and more self sufficient. I'll listen to the next book just because I'm invested now and I really do like the guys, but I hope the FMC improves because it's almost enough to not care how the books continue. I hate dumb FMC's. That said, there was quite a bit of action in this book; the FMC constantly has something happening to her. I hope to see Wes get more time in the next book. He's so sweet and his powers are interesting. Spice was decent in this one. Sometimes I feel there is a disconnect between the plot and the spice though. They kind of do it all the time and the plot and everyday events are glossed over and quick so they can get back to f***ing. Spice is great when it adds to the story, not when it takes away from it.

The narrators are good. They have been for each book in the series.

Great plot

I love the continuation of this series and how we are getting more and more answers on what Kit and her guys are. This series has me hooked. I did see the twist with Jonathan coming, but I am still holding out hope that he may have done it for noble reasons as he mentioned to Kit he has explanations. I'm curious to see where Alpha Team goes from here, and I did not see that twist with Caleb coming at the end. Tate is definitely the queen of cliffhangers. It would have definitely been a 5 star review for the story, if not for Kit's stubbornness. The way she keeps healing people knowing it's a trap, and knowing it will put her and the guys in dangerous situations is so frustrating. Austin has the right idea when he was yelling at her about how she is addicted to the magic. I wish Kit was just a bit smarter and selective on how she uses her magic, considering she doesn't even fully understand it yet. They don't know how it works on people who aren't her dianoch, and they don't even follow up at all on the people she has healed.

I thought the narration was very well done. Compared to the first books, I think the narrators are getting more comfortable and less flat. The emotions (especially sarcasm and yelling/fear) were better in this book, so overall solid job well done. And the duet narration switches between characters in the same chapter are seamlessly done.

Fantastic Narration

The book has an extensive and exciting plot. The narration is off the charts. Love both voices.

I won’t be finishing the series

ustin was by far my favorite in this book. I love his character. The rest of them started to kind of feel stale to me. Especially the quite nerd, who was sadly so unforgettable I can’t remember his name! I feel like there were so many obvious things in this book that these elite spies should have seen but didn’t that it became ridiculous. The narrators again stole the show for me. Sadly I can’t get these books anywhere for free and after this one I just don’t know if they are worth $15 a book especially with as many that are in this series. The redeeming thing about this book was Austin and the narration. So I won’t be continuing with this series which is such a disappointment bc I had such high hopes

good story...

I like the story line, I just wish it would progress a little faster, and I wish that the main female character would have shown more growth and wouldn't make arrogant, dumb mistakes

Much much better

I'm glad I have stuck with this series as long as I have. This is the first book so far that I have truly enjoyed. the character development is a lot better and the story is getting really interesting. I hope the rest are as good as this one.

Kit is an idiot. 🙄

I dont like main female characters that always think they can do it all by themselves. Having unnecessary bad things happen to the main character all because she "cant help it" is stupid. I am trying to get through this series because I hate starting things and not finishing and cause the male characters are actually decently entertaining. But Kit needs to get a damn grip on herself before she gets everyone killed for her stupidity. She deserves all the bad stuff that keeps happening to her cause she keeps going off on her own.
