Publisher's Summary
Lara has only one thought when her husband is taken prisoner: I will do whatever it takes to set you free.
A queen now in exile as a traitor, Lara has watched Ithicana be conquered by her own father, helpless to do anything to stop the destruction. But when she learns her husband, Aren, has been captured in battle, Lara knows there is only one reason her father is keeping him alive: as bait for his traitorous daughter.
And it is bait she fully intends to take.
Risking her life to the Tempest Seas, Lara returns to Ithicana with a plan not only to free its king, but for liberating the Bridge Kingdom from her father’s clutches using his own weapons: the sisters whose lives she spared.
But as Lara and her companions formulate a plan to free Aren from her father’s palace, they soon discover that while it is easy to get in, it will be quite another thing to get Aren, and themselves, back out. Not only is the palace inescapable, there are more players in the game than Lara ever realized, enemies and allies switching sides in the fight for crowns, kingdoms, and bridges. But her greatest adversary of all might be the very man she’s trying to free - the husband she betrayed.
With everything she loves in jeopardy, Lara must decide who - and what - she is fighting for: her kingdom, her husband, or for herself.

Better than expected, narration wise.
I fell in love with the characters and the story in book one, but this book was infinitely better by comparison with regards to how it was told. They didn't have the female narrate female dialog and the male, the male dialog but, it felt like it flowed better and had better distinction between characters. I have a major issue with how sudden the book ended however. The chapters leading up to it were so short, it was annoying because of the noise clip at the beginning of each. I've googled to see when the release date for book three is, if there even was going to be a third and I read that it centered around Keris and Zara? I'm not overly fond of that as neither of those characters were a reason why I liked the book but never judge before you read they say.

Loved this series!!!
Although my mind is still reeling from the second book I barely have the words to describe it. The unexpected journey this series took me on...just wow! The writing is incredible, the narration was fantastic. I have to admit normally I require some sort of magic to keep me engaged but this story was magic without the magic. The world created here was mystical in itself, such a masterfully intricate world, with so many details without being overwhelming. Honestly I don't think there is any other book that I've read that has kept me so engaged, never a dull moment, constantly kept me on edge. I loved Lara's premise "The most important quality of all...ruthlessness" sets the tone for her character. Then to watch her grow and be torn down just to find herself all over again was mesmerizing, it was like watching a caterpillar change into a butterfly...but a ruthless one. And also, Aren, to watch him so sure of himself and to be broken in so many ways and find a way to still hold to that truth was refreshing. The exploration of the depths of one's soul was brought out in this story in both mc. Revenge one of my favourite tellings in a story and this is one the sweetest ways revenge can be told! But its also a story of trust and loyalty and learning what that means for you. Both Lara and Aren being pushed to extreme limits in their own ways and finding out what they would do for that love when it comes to life and death. The last few chapters had me in tears and that ending was the most epic triumph! Gotta say this was quite possibly one of the best stories I've read. I look forward to more from this series for sure!

Classic in the Making :)
I hate nothing more then when an author tries to write a classic but uses contemporary English. Call me a language fanatic but that was the short coming of the first book. Danielle L. Jensen used too much contemporary language to kill an otherwise enjoyable book. The only reason why I finished it is because I enjoy good political intrigue and the characters were well developed. Danielle L. Jensen redeemed any shortcomings from the first book and defied my expectations with the second one. Difficult to put down. The Palace politics and intrigue much expanded and elaborated than the first one and peppered with classical words :) It is always a pleasure to see emerging talent grow and develop and will be expecting more from Danielle L. Jensen. Keep up the good work.

This book took me on a wild trip from the get go. Lara and Aren have easily become two of my favourite leads. Although this book was full of action, the emotional journey these characters went on was intense. Wow! Exceeded my expectations 💜
I just finished The Traitor Queen and WOW! I’m blown away. I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I don’t usually have the patience for audiobooks since I can devour a book in a few hours. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to power through almost 11 hours of listening. However I truly enjoyed the audio journey. Stimulating narrations combined with a well written story And compelling characters 😍 it was really well done and I can’t wait for the next book.

very fun series
This series is so much fun! I really enjoyed the alternation between Lara's and Aren's point of view, which kept me completely engaged and made for an audiobook marathon weekend. I also really enjoyed the balance between political intrigue and romance, the latter very tactfully done. I love this series and I hope more books are to come. One comment, I quite prefer ebooks and wish this has been available for purchase at the same time as the audio book.

loved it enough to take time to write about it
My favorite part of this story are all the CAPABLE, INDEPENDENT, STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS! Thank you Danielle Jensen for adding this story to the universe. Seriously, thank you. I cannot accurately express my enthusiasm for violent female characters with weapons and wit. I just loved this story. Wishing I could experience it all over again for the first time! narrators were great. weird transition music was a nice change from the normal audiobook format.

Definitely Not As Fulfilling As Book 1
After reading "The Bridge Kingdom", I couldn't wait for book 2. Amazon warrior like princess getting back her man sounded like a great story. What I got was not as in depth as book one. The emotions and anxiousness wasn't here as I read this book. I enjoyed the sisters and wanted more. This book spent a lot of time on the couple's struggle. Many characters from book 1 made an appearance but nothing reach developed. And the Magpie, what happened to him???

Drum music between characters, so annoying
I hate when books put in music to break up chapters. This book has drums breaking up every chapter. When listen at night it’s a loud interruption while you try to relax. The story itself is good. I blew through the first and this one, but it’s hard to get past the constant drums interruptions since the chapters are short ones. Other wise good narrator and story

OMG!!!! Where do I start!!?!?😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have been waiting for book 2 to come out! I’m so happy it did and everyday spent waiting for it was worth it!!!!! Characters: Lara is one Amazing Lioness Empress fighting with the biggest Will Power I have ever read! ❤️ ❤️❤️😭🥰It is amazing to me how Danielle brought character development and consistency with Lara. She made it so relatable to how Lara battles her guilt, love and sense of survival throughout this book. I cried, held my breath, screamed in cheers and felt with each of Lara’s hardships and wins and losses. Lara just made me admire her every chapter with her strength and endurance..(suddenly I started making speeches to myself about how she is a hero in the middle of listening as if letting the characters in the book know lols). The women in this series are just Incredible Warriors and it is refreshing to see how they can fight with both their bodies and their minds in fighting and strategizing as good as the men and better than the men as well. Aren❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love Aren! Danielle really did an amazing job in not wasting time with unnecessary holding of grudges nor emotional outbursts when showing Aren’s struggles in his relationship with Lara. Aren struggles in his strong desire to hate the woman who betrayed him and facing his love for her; to put his kingdom first or his wife his Queen. Both of them were a matchmade in heaven. Their strengths show you how two people can be so different yet be the yin and yang to each other. Danielle did an excellent job in describing the physical struggles they went through such as in seas and dessert. By creating what it can happen in the desert or sea it made it so realistic that I was captivated and off my chair most of the time...(had to take breaks, so many intense moments). The disciption of the fighting and their skills was just breath taking! ❤️ And I have to mention the sisters! I fell in love with them and in short amount of time; Danielle wrote about them in a way that built such personalities and connection with few of them (giving us glimpses of strong women with stories of their own....hopefully more books to come for them). There are many controversial characters also such as K crown prince whom hopefully we can learn more about in coming books (PLEASE LET THERE BE MORE🙌🏽) Narration: I love your voice and how you give life to the characters! The different women’s voices were portrayed each with their own connotations. I loved how the emotions were put into the narration making me feel every bit of their struggles, aches and states. Thank you!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ James also did an outstanding narrations! Aren’s deep ans yet lilting voice was amazing! And also how you can put the weight of the characters personality to showcase their intentions in their voice was just❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏽 THANK YOU SO MUCH DANIELLE FOR YOur AMAZING STORIES AND CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK! RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!😭❤️😍🥰🙌🏽🎊

Best Read of This Year So Far!
I just love to read and I have been waiting to listen to the 2nd book in The Bridge Kingdom for what feels like a year. There is so much that I love about this storyline; warrior princesses, heroines versus just another book full of heroes, strong female characters, great narrators, a story of fighting for love and in some cases in this book fighting with love. It’s a unique blend of all that is good in the real of fairytale fantasy and I can hardly believe that it just came out and I heard it all in less than 24 hrs. cause I just didn’t want to stop reading. YES 🙌🏽! It was that good! If you haven’t read Danielle L. Jensen’s books yet, they are a must read! The only disappointment about this book is that now that it is finished I will have to wait quite awhile to read her next. Going to have to re-listen to both stories again!

I’m so happy
This is so amazing. I can’t even wrap my brain around how good this was. I’m so in love I need to go re listen to the bridge kingdom and then this again. I need more books. I need more of these narrators!! Can’t say enough good things.

Is this really the end?
I really love the story. The romance genre is over saturated with cliché boring stories, this is not one. I finished both parts in a total of three days and for some reason I feel like this story isn't over. If this is truly the last book in the series then the end was rushed and incomplete. There's so many unanswered questions about pretty major parts of the story. Don't get me wrong I still really liked the story. I just wished that either more parts of the story were finalized by the end of this book or another planned to complete the story.

Listen Now
I loved this book. Lauren and James do a wonderful job of bringing this story to life! It was so much fun getting to know Lara's sisters and I loved exploring other regions of the world. If you liked The Bridge Kingdom you'll love this sequel...and if you haven't read The Bridge Kingdom yet go it now and then come listen to this one. You won't regret a minute of it!

Cheesy ending ruins it
They had me until the end. Then they jumped the shark. Literally and figuratively. It was like if someone took the last season of Game of Thrones and ended the last episode by having writers and directors from the Hallmark channel write and direct it. Actually, that may have made the last season of GoT better, but I digress. There’s a point where you cannot willingly suspend disbelief and they crossed that line right at the end which I felt took away from the book as a whole.

So good!
This was awesome. I was nervous this would have a shorter timeline being book #2 and turned out I had nothing to worry about. It was action packed, and introspective with out the boohoos. The timeline took so many turns on the character’s journey that I couldn’t turn it off! A seriously fun listen. Made me laugh, tear up and hold my breath waiting to hear how a fight turned out. If you need an escape: listen to this series!

Aahhh all the feels with Lara and Aren
This book was so intense with everything from political drama, war, romance to adventure. Took me on an emotional ride. Lara was so so spectacular in this one, you are going to want to cry for her and hug her. Aren was as usual a sweetheart too. If you are wondering dw, this book has an hea so you are not gunna want to forget this book. I wish we had got to know something about her other sisters too they seem coooool with their sass. All in all what an emotional ride loved every single scene with Lara and Aren. The narration was awesome too with all the emotions in the voice (they honestly made my cry) which we often don’t get while reading. Though I wish we had it in hard copy early. It’s a deeper connection with reading it and nice to re-read it. Definitely recommended✅
