Publisher's Summary

Its appetite is ravenous. Its teeth scalpel-sharp. Its power unstoppable as it smashes the steel doors holding it in a Monterey, California, aquarium. The captive 20-ton Megalodon shark has tasted human blood, and it wants more.

On the other side of the world, in the silent depths of the ocean, lies the Mariana Trench, where the Megalodon has spawned since the dawn of time. Paleo-biologist Jonas Taylor once dared to enter this perilous cavern. He alone faced the monster and cut its heart out, and he wears the painful scars of that deadly encounter.

Now, as the body count rises and the horror of the Meg's attack grips the California coast, Jonas must begin the hunt again. But to do that means returning to the dark terror of the trench...where the Meg is waiting. Using himself as bait, Jonas will enter the ultimate battle - a fight to the death between man and beast in the darkest recesses of the ocean...and a fight for his sanity from the depths of his own tormented soul.

Why did they change the narrator?

While I do love the Meg books, I find it very difficult to get through this one due to the narrator change. Personally, I think he sounds like a robot. The tone and inflections when reading sound so off. Makes me glad they this guy only did one of the books.

awesome

it was riveting. it took a little time to adjust to the new narrator but it was well worth the effort. as action packed as the first book. can hardly wait to start the next book in the series.

Great listen except for…

The narrator seems to be going for some sort of speed record with this audiobook. But once I slowed his narration down, I was able to enjoy it. So I highly suggest you do the same. Love the book, definitely worth the listen!

Presently surprised!

I was worried this would be just a retelling of the first book. but in was presently surprised. this book has a element of international espionage with a central villan. The shark being more of a side story. The story keeps you engaged not wanting to put it down.

Awful narration

Fun story, terrible narration. Way to fast, and bizarre mispronunciations. Seriously, what on earth is a “rep-till”?

Don’t love the narrator

The book was great, I like the Meg series. However the narrator was not the right fit for this story. They should re-release it with the narrator of the rest of the series. I managed to get through it but didn’t love it because of that.
