Many people today think the Bible, the most influential book in world history, is not only outdated but irrelevant, irrational, and even immoral. This explanation of the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, demonstrates clearly and powerfully that the opposite is true. The Bible remains profoundly relevant - both to the great issues of our day and to each individual life. It is the greatest moral guide and source of wisdom ever written.

Story
Dennis Prager, author of The Rational Bible - which, upon its first publication, was the number one bestselling non-fiction book in America - turns his attention to the Haggadah, the book used for the most widely celebrated Jewish ritual, the Passover Seder. As with Prager’s multi-volume commentary on the Torah, the explanations included with this Haggadah are equally valuable for religious and non-religious Jews, as well as for non-Jews. It provides enough thought-provoking ideas and insights to last the reader a lifetime.

It is now in vogue to celebrate non-Western cultures and disparage Western ones. Some of this is a much-needed reckoning, but much of it fatally undermines the very things that created the greatest, most humane civilization in the world. In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric.

The average Christian in America does not know what his own religion teaches, nor does he care. He may call himself “Christian”, but he lives his life exactly as he wishes, making no attempt to conform his conduct to the commands and tenets of his religion. Daily Wire writer Matt Walsh confronts his fellow Christians in this bold, clear-eyed book that serves as an urgent reminder of Matthew 7:13 - "For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

Story
In this visionary book, Dennis Prager, one of America's most original thinkers, contends that humanity confronts a monumental choice. The world must decide between American values and its two oppositional alternatives: Islamism and European-style democratic socialism. Prager makes the case for the American value system as the most viable program ever devised to produce a good society. Those values are explained here more clearly and persuasively than ever before.

Publisher's Summary
Read by the author.
Follow Andrew Klavan to a deeper, richer understanding of the words of Jesus.
Andrew Klavan believed what he read in the Gospels, but he often struggled to understand what Jesus really meant. So he began a journey of wrestling with the beautiful and often strange words of Jesus.
He learned Greek in order to read the Gospels in their original languages, and he vowed to set aside any preconceptions about what the Scriptures say. But it wasn't until he began exploring how some of history's greatest writers wrestled with the same issues we confront today—political upheaval, rejection of social norms, growing disbelief in God—that he found a new way of understanding what Jesus meant.
In The Truth and Beauty, Klavan combines a decades-long writing career with a lifetime of reading to discover a fresh understanding of the Gospels. By reading the words of Jesus through the life and work of writers such as William Wordsworth and John Keats, Mary Shelley and Samuel Taylor Coleridge—the English romantics—Klavan discovered a way to encounter Jesus in a deeper and more profound way than ever before.
For people seeking to find renewed meaning in the words of Jesus—and for those who are striving for belief in a materialistic world—The Truth and Beauty offers an intimate account of one man's struggle to understand the Gospels in all their strangeness, and so find his way to a life that is, as he says, "the most creative, the most joyful, and surely the most true."

Keep writing non-fiction AK
I’ve been an Klavan fan for several years now. I find him not only to have a knack for “articulating with elegance the truths the average joe already knows in his heart” (paraphrasing the quote) but he’s able to bridge the gap between rational, philosophical, and spiritual thinking in an original way that is truly interesting. As with all of Andrew Klavan’s writings and talks, it takes several listens to fully absorb. I’ve just finished my 1st read through and I highly recommend this work.

Beyond know the philosophy of the Jesus, knowing Jesus the man
This is an excellent book. Like every other book written by Andrew Klavan this book is beautiful and captivating. Klavan explains the gospels from the perspective of art and poetry in an attempt to relate to and understand who Jesus is and not just what Jesus’ philosophy is. Klavan helped to put together some of the more complex and confusing aspects of Christianity. Essentially, Andrew Klavan has taken C.S. Lewis’s concept of “mere Christianity” and gone deeper and more personal with Christ, allowing the reader to see the perfect and logical beauty of God.

Excellent
Klavan’s angle of getting to know Christ and who he was as a person illuminated many of the teachings of Christ by putting them in a new perspective. I really enjoyed the comparison of Christ’s teachings and the meaning behind them to the way every life has meaning through its existence. We are all co-creators in life through our words and actions.
The reason we strive to live like Christ is because his life was the example.
Klavan’s reading was also really well done.
Thanks for writing and reading this book!

A must read
This is an incredibly important book for anyone who is a thinker, a questioner, or a seeker. Whatever your belief system, challenge yourself to read this, carefully, with a totally open mind. Then pick it up and read it again every few years. It's one of those books that will reveal itself in layers.

A Prism to See Truth in Beauty
Mr. Klavan brings forth engaging stories of the poets and their works and connects the profound meaning they were grasping for in depicting Beauty, and shows how Truth both undergirds and anchors reality in and through the person of Jesus Christ. I am enriched for having heard Mr. Klavan share this excellent presentation of his personal experience in knowing God through Christ and how all truth and beauty points to the Reality we all share in.

Luv me some Klavan. This book? Not so much
I love Klavan, but it is extremely disappointing to buy a book intended to convey the connections between truth and beauty and instead get a misrepresentation of Theological matters Klavan is unqualified to discuss. Sorry , Klavan doesn't know what he is talking about regarding Theological matters and a major portion of this text is simply an ill-informed secretarian attack against the institutions that built European Civilization. At the very least, Klavan should have attempted to "steelman" his Theological opponents positions and instead he just sounds like a high-school student who failed the try-out for his school's debate team bc he isn't even attempting to respond to his opponents actual position & instead debates a caricature/strawman of those positions. So disappointing. I recommend his podcasts & I am certain his screenplays and novels are outstanding. Just avoid this book. Not worth your time or $.

The truth is, this is a beautiful book
I just finished listening to the audible version, and now I am going to buy the hardcover-
I’ve never bought a book twice. That’s how much I value this one.
The truth is the writing flows easily, but it’s so dense with insights and beauty that I want the hardcover so I can properly drink it all in at a slower pace.

This is an extraordinary book!
It is really interesting to read about the lives of those English writers and their philosophies. But this book is so much more than that. It gives you a perspective about the world that most likely you would not otherwise have. And it gives you a perspective about Jesus, his life, and his words that you might not otherwise have.
And I am all the better for it.
