The Undead: Part 18

The battle for survival against the Undead continues. Three weeks of highs and lows, and the group are celebrating their victories and nursing their hurts like never before. They head out once more to a world where the threat comes from an altogether different foe, and in their darkest hour so far, the infection might just be their only ally as Marcy finally finds her role in the team. But will Howie accept it? Will it tear them apart? Will they do the right thing?

A new landscape was formed after the storm, and with it the promise of a new beginning. One race to dominate this land. One race to survive. As the postapocalyptic world moves into the third week, Howie is starting to feel the pressure. New faces, new rules, and the infection continues its deadly evolution.

After the carnage of the night and dealing with an infected Lani, the team leave the fort and once more venture into rural towns to find food and buy time. As the day wears on, the tension between Howie and Marcy grows, with increasingly petty arguments that sap the morale of the others. They find a deserted village where the infection strikes in vast numbers. With too many to fight head-on, the lads flee and take refuge in an old mansion.

Howie and Marcy fight their way back into the fort to rescue Lani, only to find her on a killing spree. Her body made weak by the incessant and relentless purge of the Undead, and believing Howie has betrayed her with Marcy, she now seeks to destroy him and all he loves. With tensions running high, Maddox and his crews watch on while Howie tries to reason with the woman he thought he loved. She leads him to the armoury, where they are together and alone. She holds a grenade in her hand, ready to detonate.

It is the morning after the storm. Thick fog covers everything. In the stifling, claustrophobic atmosphere, Howie and his group head out for supplies. Skirmishes and tense fights take place and there are messages left in blood at key sites: 'he's coming'. As the day progresses, Howie becomes increasingly darker in thought, and more demanding of his team. By the end of the day they have discovered a munitions factory, but can Howie hold it together?

After cutting through fences in the safari park and an epic battle between a gorilla and a lion, Howie and his group make it back to the fort. Day 14 culminates with a vicious battle during a storm so huge it changes the landscape around them, leaving Nick with no choice but to tackle the doctor and his men alone.

Dave finds an unconscious Howie and carries him into the residential streets for safety. The others have been separated and are searching for each other. Nick falls asleep and misses the pick up.

We meet Lilly and Billy, a brother and sister who are led by their ineffectual father into a series of devastating situations which results in Billy being taken by two men and Lilly witnessing the murder of her father. Lilly tracks her brother and meets up with Nick who, not being able to find his group, agrees to help her.

Darren heads to the Isle of Wight, where he gathers more undead and turns the beautiful Marcy. Howie and his remaining, much smaller team go to rescue the living who have escaped there, but Darren traps them in an abandoned hotel and sends his hordes in after them. Even if they can escape, tides prevent them from leaving the island, and they must face Darren and Marcy in a final showdown.

Howie’s group disembark from the Isle of Wight, but when the ferry they take breaks down they climb aboard a Royal Navy supply vessel at anchor outside Portsmouth Harbour to find a huge horde of undead. We meet Maddox and a group of council estate children who have survived the apocalypse by taking refuge in a cannabis plantation. When a horde of undead attack the children, Howie tries to save them only to find they turn on him. Eventually a truce is called, and an uneasy alliance begins to develop.

At Tower Bridge, Howie, Dave, and their group of survivors take stock of the previous day's battle. After an initial confrontation between Howie and the turned Darren, Howie and his group beat a hasty retreat to Fort Spitbank on the south coast, where they prepare for the invasion of Darren and his army of undead.

Chaos overtakes the fort when one of Howie’s group turns and starts killing survivors. Howie and his team are blamed and shunned but carry on their search for fuel to run generators in order to carry out research on the dog. When Marcy realises the infection can cure diseases, and realising she can be strong and good, she decides to head to the fort to hand herself in to be examined, too.

Twelve days ago a deadly infection spread across the world. Populations have been destroyed. Law and order are gone. Life as it was known has ceased. The infected are now the strongest species, and survival has become brutal. Heather has survived by hiding. Hiding is her thing. People are bad. What others do to survive is no concern of hers.
