Anne and Hutch have escaped the confines of the Tyson Estate with plans to live out in the harsh conditions of The Elements where it is always winter. Instead, they accidentally discover an entire society of people living underground.
Dwellers, as they call themselves, enjoy a peaceful existence away from the Estates and out of The Elements in a world called Sub Terra. There are dozens of families living in homes they call Dwellings. They live in what once was the New York City subway system. They exist as people did before The Shift. Their clothes, their ideals, all reminiscent of the early 21st century.
Anne and Hutch are welcomed with open arms when they arrive. But these Dwellers have a secret. A secret shared by all who live there. A secret that will change Anne and Hutch's lives forever.
