Publisher's Summary

A New York Times best-selling audiobook

This program is read by the author.

For those who witnessed the global collapse of socialism, its resurrection in the 21st century comes as a surprise, even a shock. How can socialism work now when it has never worked before?

In this path-breaking audiobook, best-selling author Dinesh D’Souza argues that the socialism advanced today by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar, and Elizabeth Warren is very different from the socialism of Lenin, Mao, and Castro. It is “identity socialism”, a marriage between classic socialism and identity politics. America’s typical socialist is not a working-class union man but a Black Lives Matter activist, a transgender militant, or a prophet of environmental apocalypse. Today’s socialists claim to model themselves not on Mao’s Great Leap Forward or even Venezuelan socialism but rather on the “socialism that works” in Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden.

This is the new face of socialism that D’Souza confronts and decisively refutes with his trademark incisiveness, wit, and originality. He shows how socialism abandoned the working class and found new recruits by drawing on the resentments of race, gender, and sexual orientation. He reveals how it uses the Venezuelan, not the Scandinavian, formula. D’Souza chillingly documents the full range of lawless, gangster, and authoritarian tendencies that they have adopted.

The United States of Socialism is an informative, provocative, and thrilling exposé not merely of the ideas, but also the tactics of the socialist left. In making the moral case for entrepreneurs and the free market, the author portrays President Trump as the exemplar of capitalism and also the most effective political leader of the battle against socialism. He shows how we can help Trump defeat the socialist menace.

Dinesh does it again!

Dinesh, not only being one of the most cool-headed political orators of our time, is a tour-de-force. He takes the political circus we see and hear and extracts the behaviors and motives, expertly illuminating what lies behind the talking points, character assassination and identity politics narrative. He also gives a clear path forward to reclaiming our nation from the grips of socialism masking as democratic socialism and “equality.” An excellent book and equally excellent presentation by Dinesh. I look forward to the next one!

Let your conscience be your guide

A few points to consider. I couldn’t agree more on Dinesh’s assessment of Comey! You can’t have a traitor in the camp in one ofthe most vaulted positions of American government Comey betrayed Trump like Hoover did with JFK. That and a toothless Jeff Sessions who is meant to keep the presidency on the right path not get him in further jeopardy. The last is John Bolton what a despicable man a Republican with a blue hat. Coming from Canada we are forced with Trudeau Doughnuts the Cockwomble and his Machiavellian fiefdom. The core underneath him his similar to the Deep State. What I cannot fathom is how the evil little gnome George Soros is left to continue in his attempts to undermine the stability of America! It is them the Globalists against us the Republican Capital Nationalists. Two things have shaped us the LBJ Civil Rights Bill of 1964. Another vile cretin! The real Civil Rights champion was Eisenhower! Islamist belief is another thing dogging our progress. This Jihadist movement that is being used by the left with the likes of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib must be stopped. Moving forward here are two for the 2024 ticket Matt Gaetz for President and Ayaan Hirsi Ali VP.

enlightening and inspiring

I have so much respect for Dinesh from his YouTube videos of his appearances and his calm in the face of physical threat. He , lile Ben Shapiro are so well armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of their subject matter that they can argue it with anyone anywhere. He doesn't engage people with the intent to shred them but just to educate the shredding is just a bonus

More of the same

I was expecting a rational dissection of modern socialism. Instead it's just more anti Democrat low level false comparitive fallacy analysis and name calling common to any free opinion podcast. just more rhetoric. waste of my time and money. very disappointed.

Good, somewhat softball

Dinesh is a great thinker and writes from the heart. This book is good but is geared for those who are in the toddler stages of information warfare. I recommend the book as a jumpstart for anyone that has come over from the left. I loved the interactions and conversations he had with the President. That was fun.

Fantastic Book

Another great read from Dinesh D'Souza. He argued the premise that the Democrat's in the U.S. are actively working to create a socialist country and his research was spot on. I really enjoyed his description of DJT at the end and will utilize his prescription for dealing with Socialists of all kinds in the future. If you have liked his books in the past you will really enjoy this one!

Informative and concise

In terms and style digestible by the layperson, D'Souza lays out the problems with, and the origin of, the neo-socialism running rampant in America today. Having established his perspective, he offers a reasonable defense for President Trump, given the context of the culture war, and offers strategy and tactics necessary for sane members of the right, the center, and the moderate left to combat the neo-socialist takeover sweeping America and other Western nations.

exceptional author

I first saw this intelligent man on Trump talk on YouTube with Lara Trump. keep in mind that my family is super liberal. I voted for Donald Trump simply because I didn't trust Hillary, I mean she didn't even leave her cheating husband. she doesn't have a backbone. and I knew that Donald Trump would make us good deals and protect our borders. it's time America has a little pride and a little self-interest, I always sensed kind of a shame coming from the left, even Joe Biden acts ashamed of America and throws everyone under the bus except when he panders to the minorities #youaintblack. so even though I voted for Trump, all I ever heard about him was CNN headlines and I was convinced he was terrible and I went to go hate read his tweets. I realized oh my God there's nothing that bad here. then I listen to 30 press conferences in a row during the covid crisis. this is exactly the president for the job and now I'm learning a little more about why what Bernie proposes is awful. not only would it will limit our entrepreneurial and high-growth economy, but I don't even think he understands that by encouraging health insurance companies to compete in the market, it will become more affordable and better for all consumers because they are not ringing us by the neck because it is government-mandated. we have the option to walk away. I thought the entire interview was Lara Trump was riveting and I got all of his books on audio from the library and this is the one I purchased. he makes a lot of really great points and I sure hope to God that Donald Trump will be our president for years to come. he might be kind of inflammatory on Twitter, but hey, no such thing as bad press and he is not a puppet, he's not pretending to be anyone he's not. he makes good decisions, has good instincts, and he does care about people. I am absolutely shocked and disgusted by the media these days especially CNN. and now recently we have celebrities and Joe biden's campaign team bailing out terrorists who lit our cities on fire? they (far left extremists who WANT socialism) say they "hate capitalism". even if they bailed out some of the less extreme rioters, it's very anti-American and it throws our police force under the bus who have kept us safe for many years. why would you want these people released who are throwing bricks at our police officers? why would you release the people who vandalize and loot our businesses? I think that people are waking up.they're realizing they do not want the heavy-handed government and they do not want to be pandered to with identity politics. not to mention the fact that we've been locked in our freaking houses for 3 months... well they are trying to take away our constitutional right to bear arms, freedom of religion and freedom of speech (online censorship, hate and violence against Patriotic Americans especially Trump supporters). but then they claim to uphold the constitutional right to gather and protest? why have we been staying home for three months? I think people are waking up and people are questioning. I knew that we needed a business leader and now I'm really realizing exactly why, he makes the tough decisions and he actually understands how the economy works. socialism is not a good idea. I don't want to live in fear controlled by the government. and that's not even a paranoid fantasy, in my state we've literally been basically on house arrest for three straight months and people can do violent riots in the city but they can't go for a hike in the forest.

Thank you again Mr. D'Souza

Just finished reading The United States of Socialism and not surprised how well written this book is. If anyone wants a proper education for their children, just have them read all Dinesh D'Souza's books. We can no longer rely of the american education system to properly inform our future generations. Great job Mr. D'Souze!!

Socialism always fails!

Considering it record of abject failure every time it has been tried I'm surprised that socialism has become preferred among so many in the US. Yet it is especially popular among the under 40 crowd. I suspect some of the college kids supporting it believe that socialism is about having a good social life. THE UNITED STATES OF SOCIALISM (subtitle: Who's Behind It. Why It's Evil. How to Stop It. ) is a new release by naturalized US citizen Dinesh D'Souza. The book is well written and narrated. There are many books on the negative aspects of socialism. D'Souza's book is less academic and easier to grasp than most. Discussion of socialism in the US is necessairly political because while neither major political party is socialist all of the socialist are Democrats. While I would not recommend reading THE UNITED STATES OF SOCIALISM as the way to understand socialist concepts in detail, it is an excellent summary of the state of socialism in the US today.

As important as Life and Death

Thank you Dinesh, I watched "Death of a Nation" and listened to "Hillary's America" and I have to say that this is another one of your great books that exposes the danger of accepting comfortable lies. Coming from Romania, and experiencing communism, I really don't want to feel that type of constant fear that it constantly implements. Communism is run by lies, they end up using lies to justify violence and then use the violence to maintain the control over the population while they are destroying the spirit of man kind. I would also like to recommend "How The Specter of Communism Is Ruling Our World" published by EpochTimes, I feel it is one of the most complete analysis of communism right now.

Literal Propaganda

I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste 10 hours listening to the ravings of a grifting rightwing propagandist like D’souza. There is perhaps 15 minutes worth of useful content sporadically interspersed between 9 and a half hours of wild ravings, misrepresentations, straw-men, ad hominem attacks and flat out lies. The entire last chapter is an hour and a half long diatribe on why everyone should worship Trump with 3 minutes of ‘strategy’ on how to defeat ‘the left’ tacked on to the end. This was literally the worst book I’ve ever listened to on audible. In fact, the only reason I even listened to it was to fulfill my end of an agreement with a friend in exchange for him to listen to a book I recommended. Painfully I held up my end of the bargain. If you do buy this book, a word of advice, listen on 1.5x speed or faster to save yourself some pain of 10 hours of incessant droning. But here’s a better piece of advice: use your money on a different book. Something with some substance that you can learn from because this certainly is not that and only a fool would think otherwise.

It was nice to have it read by the actual author. His insights and recommendations are a great plan going forward for conservative, mainstream America.
