À propos de cet audio

The White Lotus meets Agatha Christie in this bold novel from a #1 New York Times bestselling author—"a clever, witty, and fast-paced whodunit" (Harlan Corben).

A Reese's Book Club Pick!

Ellery Wainwright is alone at the edge of the world. She and her husband, Luke, were supposed to spend their twentieth wedding anniversary together at the luxurious Resort at Broken Point in Big Sur, California. Where better to celebrate a marriage, a family, and a life together than at one of the most stunning places on earth? But now she’s traveling solo. To add insult to injury, there’s a wedding at Broken Point scheduled during her stay.

Ellery remembers how it felt to be on the cusp of everything new and wonderful, with a glimmering future just ahead. Now, she isn’t certain of anything except for her love for her kids and her growing realization that this place, though beautiful, is unsettling.

When Ellery discovers the dead groom, she realizes that she is not the only one whose future is no longer guaranteed. Before the police can reach Broken Point, a mudslide takes out the road to the resort, leaving the guests trapped. When another guest dies, it’s clear something horrible is brewing. Everyone at Broken Point has a secret. And everyone has a shadow. Including Ellery.

The plot may be good but the writing is very grade 8. Too frustrating to finish

Basic

The story dragged on and on and didn’t progress. I keep skipping ahead a few chapters and the plot hadn’t moved on. I gave up and deleted the audiobook from my library. I should have read the reviews before I downloaded the book.

Too boring

I tried to return this title but couldn't, very disappointed. Usually when listening to an audiobook, by the time I get to the middle of the story, it's compelling and hard to stop listening. This was so dull and hard to follow that I had to continually rewind to figure out what I missed. My mind would wonder because the story was so dull and didn't make sense. I usually really like Reece's book club picks and have never felt this let down by one of her choices before this one. I couldn't return it and I am not sure why. I think it was because I listened to the end, won't make that mistake again on a terrible book, I will call it early on instead of giving it a chance. I feel ripped off. Audible has obviously changed it's policy on returns because this latest "reason" for refusing the return is new and now I have no idea how early on in the listening I have to stop in order to get a refund if the book is awful. This book is frustrating and hard to follow, all of the neatly wrapped up "mysteries" no one cares about by the time the story ends. I am sad I wasted the time and money on this book, not worth it.

Boring, hard to follow, and doesn't make sense.

Poor character development. Awful story arc. Story filled with holes. Frustrating plot. Wasted 10 hours of my life listening.
