I absolute love all of this authors book. They never disappoint. It was suspenseful and full of twists. I however did not find the main character likeable .
Especially where her child was concerned and it was irritating to constantly listen to her rehash her past circumstances.
Having said that I enjoyed the plot and the storyline.,
I expected more thrill and suspense from this author so I was slightly disappointed.
The narration was great and i think it was nicely done. Great voices to listen to.

We've all seen a hundred "pretty hardscrabble girl falls for a rich, handsome bachelor" stories. In this K.L. Slater narrative, the Eliza Doolittle/'Pretty Woman'/'Maid In America' character falls for the rags-to-riches lifestyle and charming überrich boss/boyfriend - as expected - but is a calculating opportunist. Professional Gentleman's Club Cocktail Waitress & single mom 'Alicia Turner' gets involved in a scam targeting multimillionaire real estate mogul 'Trent Connors' .. but finds herself a target in turn in a twisty story where nothing is as it seems and everyone is screwing over everyone.
The vocabulary/prose is serviceable and Slater plots the tale well, but I found myself not caring about the scheming Alicia character at all. The book failed to captivate me as much as it could have.

As to presentation: Reader Claudia Jessie turns in an admirable - if imperfect - performance.. backed up by exemplary technical support from Audible Originals Inc. The listening product is "above average" overall.

Altogether, I rate 'The Waitress' 6.5/10-stars. I very much appreciate the inclusion of the book on the 'Plus' menu.. recognizing that it might grab you more than it did me. It was a great distraction for a couple of quiet afternoons for free.. but you should spend your Credit elsewhere unless you're a dedicated Slater fan.

Most excellent! Twists, turns, suspense, the bad guys get what they deserve AND the heroine is a perfect mix of strength and vulnerability.
Narrator is spot on too!

Claudia Jessie - the narrator was absolutely Brilliant. She honestly made the listen worthwhile. The story showed promise at first but there are significant plot lines that didn't make sense. Is this still worth your time? Sure, for an easy leisurely listen while on a jog or doing weekend chores. I am glad that it is in the Plus Catalogue but I think I would have been disappointed if I spent a credit on it. The outstanding narration carried the story though 5 stars for narration but the story was okay.

I really enjoy this author's works. This story was engaging and I liked the main character.

The ending felt a little flat... in comparison with some of the twists in Slater's other books. I think I was expecting more of a shock.

I wouldn't call this a thriller. It was more of a mystery and trying to figure out what the connection was to the protagonist and why she was doing what she was doing.

The ending was what I expected, however I didn't suspect the twist at the very end.

Great narration.

It was a good Membership Plus book.
