I appreciated Jeff Goodell's storytelling quality. He really got out there and talked to a lot of people, not just in the US, but around the world. I appreciated his chapters on Europe, Africa. Would like to have learned a bit more about the situation in Asia.

In plenty of instances Jeff seems to come up against outright denial of climate change, and cities pandering to the money of developers. Surprisingly there was only a hint at the political divide around climate change (what a difference 8 years makes). Of the poor people, many don't want to or don't have the money to move away from the danger zone.

It is at least 8 years since the book was published in 2017, and I was worried it would be out of date. I needn't have worried; what is important is that this is a snapshot of the period and you will shake your head realizing how little has changed or been done about the problem of making cities more resilient, managing funds for disasters, promoting education and awareness, or funding research.

love the story, the facts and the how too. But it has real heart and it is super fascinating. It captivated my interest fully. I do not care for the voice of the narration but beyond that it was a stellar listen.
