great fun

I'd read this many years ago. Wasn't sure whether to get the audible. Got it. And loved every minute of it. Written with the same brilliance as the Sherlock Holmes stories; but as a historical romance a very different genre. The delightful writing and story was altogether the richer for a marvellous performance. Thank you Audible.

An old favourite superbly read

The story is an old favourite of mine for more than 50 years and this is a fantastic reading with each character having just the right sort of voice and accent etc. Wonderful.

Great performance. Reader uses different voices and accents to send the listener back in time to France and England describing wars fought for glory and riches.
