Publisher's Summary

In this heartwarming novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel, adult siblings find their way back home—and back to each other—after loss.

Preston and Constance Whittier have built a happy life together, with a brood of six children raised in a beautiful historic Manhattan mansion. Now, with a nearly empty nest, it’s easier than ever for the Whittiers to maintain their tradition of a solo romantic “Wintermoon” ski trip.

But with this year’s trip comes tragedy, and suddenly the Whittier’s adult children find themselves reuniting in the family home without their parents for the first time ever. The oldest, Lyle, is reaching a breaking point in his marriage and must decide whether a divorce would be best for him and his two children. Gloria’s big job on Wall Street has kept her single at thirty-nine, and growing ever more cynical. The twins, Caroline and Charlie, moved out long ago to start a fashion business that may now be faltering. Benjie, with special needs, is hit hard by the loss of his parents and needs his siblings’ help. And Annabelle, the youngest, drops out of college and starts to spin out of control.

The eldest four are forced to put aside their personal issues and their grief to keep the family together and support each other and their two youngest siblings. Selling the house, along with all the memories that live in its walls, feels like yet another devastating loss. Could there be another way, as unconventional as it seems?

Underwhelmed

The narrator was not best suited for this book. It felt like he was the “IN A WORLD” YouTuber who didn’t “feel” what I am sure DS has intended her listeners to hear. Disappointed. 😫

Same ole same ole

Same old book over and over again. Rich people with problems that regular people deal with everyday glamorized. Everyone is skinny, tall, and gorgeous. In this book even 2 weeks after giving birth to a baby 🙄 It’s boring. Took a lot to get through it. Wasted credit. And the narrator sounded like a surfer dude. Annoying

Very boring!!!!!

I was disappointed in this book. I could hardly tolerate the narrator! He sounded like a newscaster! It was painful to finish. I kept stopping because I couldn’t stand to listen to the narrator a minute longer’!!

I really enjoyed seeing a large family who could get along.

I really enjoyed seeing a large family who could get along and made the best out of a bad situation. I thought there was going to be a reference to the Whittier‘s who started the cookie factory in another Daniel Steele book. Was a little disappointed that there was not a family connection. But overall I enjoyed the book and found it entertaining on my home mute.

Underdeveloped

There was no drama, hardly a plot, no real opportunity to connect with the characters. I wish I hadn’t stayed with it until the end, but honestly, I was glad when it was finally finished.
