Publisher's Summary

The perfect house or the perfect lie?

The moment my husband showed me Cliffside - a sleek and modern glass home perched on the edge of the jagged Big Sur clifftops - I fell in love. And right there and then I made a pact with myself. I am never leaving this house.

But when my husband was killed on the perilous roads leading up to the house, weeks after we moved in, I had a decision to make - leave the home I love and start a new life or stay and shut myself off from the world? I am never leaving this house.

As I pieced together my shattered life, my mind began to play tricks on me. Footsteps along the beach, leading to my home, then blood-red flowers left on my doorstep with a note that read "Looking at you". So I retreated back to the safety of my glass refuge once again. I am never leaving this house.

But now, as I stare out of the towering windows of my perfect home, I know there is someone out there staring back. I know that they are watching my every move, waiting to make me pay for my past mistakes.

This pulse-racing psychological thriller from USA Today best-selling author Arianne Richmonde will have you hooked. If you are a fan of The Woman in the Window, Gone Girl, and Netflix’s You, you will love The Wife’s House. Prepare to stay up all night!

Skip This One

I usually like Helen Duff, but this book was a fail for me. She’s doing WAAAY too much. (Her pronunciation of ‘Juan’ was pretty funny/grating too). Unbelievably stupid decisions made by heroine; she deserved whatever she got. I couldn’t finish.

Thank goodness for the end

The narrarator is so aggravating. Who talks like that. I was going to return the book simply because her voice was so annoying. I hung in there. At least it had a good ending.

Spoiler

In my opinion, this was a cheap way to end the book. Just kill everyone. “The End” really???

great story I couldn't put the book down.

but I will not read this author again because I do not like the language that was used. It was totally unnecessary to put in such trash and what was otherwise a great book.

Not my cup of tea.

This book was ok.

There were elements that reminded me of “Misery” and even a little nod to Edgar Allen Poe in some regards. I thought this was an interesting way to structure the suspense, though it was pretty exhausting and slow paced in the first three quarters of the book.

I liked the last 25% as the book finally reached the climax. But the fact that the protagonist is so obviously being drugged, and she didn’t realize it, is really frustrating. Many of the characters including herself, describes her as naive, and my goodness, yes she was. It was very frustrating.

I predicted quite a few of the surprises, but there were lots of twists and turns. Overall, not my cup of tea. It was slow and frustrating, and I didn’t care for any of the characters.

As an added note, did anyone else feel like the narrator switched between saying “Juan” and “Quan?” I got super annoyed at this. Perhaps trivial, but another aggravating detail.

Read it. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS BOOK.

I have listened to hundreds of audio books and this was the most painful narration of a book ever. I have many character flaws and the same
One that make me unable to make more than one trip into the house is the same one that makes me unable to finish a book, even when it’s dreadful. (I’ve got to figure out a way to manage this trait as this narration will
haunt me for years.) The story was good. But read it, don’t listen to it. Seriously.

Wife’s house - omg!

Narrator terrible! Probably one of the worst books I’ve ever “read”! If we weren’t on a road trip would have passed on it right away. Kept hoping it would get better. It didn’t. The fake British breathy accent was so transparent. Plot ridiculous. Don’t waste your time!

Tried

I really do not like the narrator. I can’t get into this book with her voice.
