À propos de cet audio

Women are more capable than confident. It's time to change that balance.

Many women have untapped skills and gifts. How would their lives change if they weren't limited by what they thought they could or should do? What would be different in their careers, relationships, and health?

In The Wordz We Wear, Vera Milan Gervais unpacks how the labels women take on prevent them from achieving everything they are capable of. Words are powerful—they identify which boxes one fits into, often becoming cages that keep women from exploring possibilities. But confidence, as Vera outlines, comes from believing in oneself.

Wordz (spelled with a "z" to disrupt previous thought patterns) help women embrace their strengths and show up with confidence by changing how they think and talk about themselves. When women intentionally choose wordz that empower them, they start to override the limiting beliefs that restrict their choices-the beliefs that hold them back from discovering their full potential.

Ultimately, the wordz women wear influence the way they feel about themselves. When they show up with confidence, they expect more. When they expect more, they pursue more. When they pursue more, they get more. It's time for women to cultivate their wordz. It's time for women to live their best lives.

Vera Milan Gervais is a speaker, author, award-winning businesswoman, and mindset mentor who helps women develop confidence in themselves and their leadership skills. Her signature Wordz We Wear® program inspires women to challenge limiting labels and create their best life. The mother of two adult children lives near the ocean in New Brunswick with her husband and business partner, Marcel.

This book feels like it should be required reading for women. The Wordz We Wearwas both an eye-opener and a healing experience for me.

Vera Milan Gervais’ exploration of the labels and nicknames we are given, and the silent power they hold over us, deeply resonated. The chapter on how nicknames, so-called terms of endearment, like "smart girl," "slugger," or "princess," can shape who we believe we are, felt like she was speaking directly to me. I had a childhood nickname that I never realized, until adulthood, had affected so many of my choices, from when I held back to how I saw myself. This book validated those feelings, giving language to things I had sensed but never fully understood.

Without giving too much away, there is a moment when Gervais shares a recurring dream that shaped her self-perception, a story that is chilling but powerful. It stayed with me long after I finished the chapter.

Reading The Wordz We Wear made me feel seen and challenged me to be more intentional with the words I carry, and the ones I speak. It empowered me to move away from a passive mindset shaped by the pressure of "shoulds" and toward an active mindset grounded in choice.

This book is not just a reflection on language; it is an invitation to reclaim it.
