What the critics say
- Audie Award Winner, Inspirational/Spiritual, 2004
"Reminds readers that before we learned everything we needed to know in kindergarten, or had our first taste of chicken soup for the soul, Rogers taught valuable lessons about playing make-believe, keeping one's promises, finding strength through helping others, and not being afraid to cry." Sound-bytes and Snippets
This book isn't quite what I was expecting. There are a handful of celebrity narrators taking turns sharing snippets and sound-bytes of Fred Rogers wisdom, mixed with a speech Fred presented at an awards event, and a touching foreword by Fred's wife about her life with Fred. All-in-all, not a bad book - just more of a background montage than a story.

Everyone should read this!
I love everything about this book. We need another Mr. Rogers in this world but I’m afraid we will never will. This man single-handedly made children and adults better versions of themself. This book reminded me of that.

Pleasant bio of Fred Rogers
Was expecting something more along the lines of Fred's previous book to parents, but this was more about his background, how he came to his show and lived his life. I enjoyed hearing his wife tell of their life together. She reads with the slow, thoughtful speech of Fred, plus a lovely southern accent. The celebrity readings were a nice reminder of his philosophy to help kids understand and navigate their world. If you remember Mr. Rogers fondly, this will be a warm listen.
