Publisher's Summary

From America’s preeminent columnist, named by the Financial Times the most influential commentator in the nation, a must-have collection of Charles Krauthammer’s essential, timeless writings.

A brilliant stylist known for an uncompromising honesty that challenged conventional wisdom at every turn, Krauthammer dazzled readers for decades with his keen insight into politics and government. His weekly column was a must-read in Washington and across the country. Don’t miss the best of Krauthammer’s intelligence, erudition, and wit collected in one volume.

Listeners will find here not only the country’s leading conservative thinker offering a passionate defense of limited government, but also a highly independent mind whose views - on feminism, evolution and the death penalty, for example - defy ideological convention.

Things That Matter also features several of Krauthammer’s major path-breaking essays - on bioethics, on Jewish destiny and on America’s role as the world’s superpower - that have profoundly influenced the nation’s thoughts and policies. And finally, the collection presents a trove of always penetrating, often bemused reflections on everything from border collies to Halley’s Comet, from Woody Allen to Winston Churchill, from the punishing pleasures of speed chess to the elegance of the perfectly thrown outfield assist.

With a special, highly autobiographical introduction, in which Krauthammer reflects on the events that shaped his career and political philosophy, this indispensable chronicle takes the listener on a fascinating journey through the fashions and follies, the tragedies and triumphs, of the last three decades of American life.

HE LIVES ON IN AUDIO - A GREAT MIND AND VOICE!!

#Audible1 - hope you enjoy this review.

An amazing tale of life through the good times and bad; a riveting tome that is made even more interesting and relevant read in the author's own voice.

It was great to hear the entire book with it's various passages that had been previewed on FoxNews, putting them into a more clear and concise path for the listener to savour.

Thankfully he was able to put this book out before his illness and subsequent passing; a great story of perserverance in the face of outstanding odds stacked against him - where mere mortals would give up, he plunged forward, never looking back.

And because of this courageous attitude, Dr. K. was able to leave his thoughts and wisdoms on a myriad of subjects.

Well worth the listen.

Should be two books, but both are good reads.

Krauthammer himself orated a good amount of the beginning and end of the book. It was good to hear his voice again, as I'd always found him to be one of the most reasonable political voices on television. I normally don't care about celebrity deaths but I did feel that an important voice was lost with his passing.

I do find it odd that such a large portion of this book deals with Israel and Jerusalem. That portion (Krauthammer's views on Israel) could be its own book, but seems out of place here.

Overall, it's a good compilation of his articles over the course of decades.
