Bobby Hall
À propos de cet audio
The instant New York Times best seller and “inspiring and vulnerable” (Trevor Noah) memoir from Bobby Hall, the multiplatinum recording artist known as Logic and the number-one best-selling author of Supermarket.
This Bright Future is a raw and unfiltered journey into the life and mind of Bobby Hall, who emerged from the wreckage of a horrifically abusive childhood to become an era-defining artist of our tumultuous age.
A self-described orphan with parents, Bobby Hall began life as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, the only child of an alcoholic, mentally ill mother on welfare and an absent, crack-addicted father. After enduring 17 years of abuse and neglect, Bobby ran away from home and - with nothing more than a discarded laptop and a ninth-grade education - he found his voice in the world of hip-hop and a new home in a place he never expected: the untamed and uncharted wilderness of the social media age.
In the message boards and livestreams of this brave new world, Bobby became Logic, transforming a childhood of violence, anger, and trauma into music that spread a resilient message of peace, love, and positivity. His songs would touch the lives of millions, taking him to dizzying heights of success, where the wounds of his childhood and the perils of Internet fame would nearly be his undoing.
A landmark achievement in an already remarkable career, This Bright Future “is just like the author - fearless, funny, and full of heart” (Ernest Cline, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Ready Player One) and looks back on Bobby’s extraordinary life with lacerating humor and fearless honesty. Heart-wrenching yet ultimately uplifting, this book completes the incredible true story and transformation of a human being who, against all odds, refused to be broken.

Histoire
In the 1930s, Germany was a hotbed of scientific thought. But after the Nazis took power, Jewish and female citizens were forced out of their academic positions. Hedwig Kohn, Lise Meitner, Hertha Sponer and Hildegard Stücklen were eminent in their fields, but they had no choice but to flee due to their Jewish ancestry or anti-Nazi sentiments. Their harrowing journey out of Germany became a life-and-death situation that required Herculean efforts of friends and other prominent scientists.

Heartbreak Is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music is the first book that goes deep on the musical and cultural impact of Taylor Swift. Nobody can tell the story like Rob Sheffield, the bestselling and award-winning author of Dreaming the Beatles, On Bowie, and Love Is a Mix Tape. The legendary Rolling Stone journalist is the writer who has chronicled Taylor for every step of her long career, from her early days to the Eras Tour. Sheffield gets right to the heart of Swift and her music, her lyrics, her fan connection, her raw power.

Comedian Pierre Novellie was on stage when a heckler suggested he was autistic. Usually, this disruption would be water off a duck's back but two things made this heckler different: first, he was himself autistic. Second, he turned out to be absolutely right. This random encounter led to a diagnosis of autism at the age of 31 that unravelled his world, explained his struggles and answered questions that had bothered him for his entire life: why were the other kids obsessed with Britney Spears instead of The Goon Show? Why don't people ever say what they mean? Why is everyone chewing so loudly?

A decade ago Special Forces warrior Jason Morgan parachuted into the Central American jungle on an anti-narcotics raid. He'd served with the famous Night Stalkers on countless such missions. This one turned out very different. Months later he regained consciousness in a US military hospital, with no memory of how he'd gotten there. The first words he heard were from his surgeon, telling him he would never walk again. The determined soldier responded, "Sir, yes, I will."

Isaac is at a crossroads in his young life. Growing up in Missouri, the son of a caustic, hard-driving father, he was conditioned to suppress his artistic pursuits and physical desires, notions that didn’t align with a traditional view of masculinity. But now, in late ’80s Chicago, Isaac has finally carved out a life of his own. He is sensitive and tenderhearted and has built up the courage to seek out a community. Yet just as he begins to embrace who he is, two social catalysts—the AIDS crisis and Rodney King’s attack—collectively extinguish his hard-earned joy.

An incredible book
I’ve read many many books that hit close to home emotionally, but nothing as touching as this. Been a big Logic fan for ~6 years now mostly due to the message he was trying to get across. Im lucky to be able to get such great and detailed look into his past and understand his present better. I think this book is a must read if you’re not only a Logic fan but want to understand mental health problems more seriously

From a day 1 fan
As a day 1 fan of both Bobby and Logic, this book exceeded any expectations I had about it. I didn’t really have expectations but I knew it was going to be incredible and it was.
Logic has been my #1 favourite artist since I discovered him in 2010 at the age of 12 back in grade 7. Hearing every single one of his songs, watching every interview, listening to every freestyle, to reading both of his books, has been amazing and I truly hold him as a person, and as an artist close to my heart. Anybody that knows me knows how much I love Logic (not in a weird way though lmao). Whenever I was sad, happy, angry, or mad, I knew I could always resort to his music no matter what was going on in my life. He’s the reason I started writing music and currently am about to start recording them professionally.
This book showed me a far deeper level and understanding of Logic and of Bobby that I never thought I’d know. I laughed during this read, I cried, I got angry (at some of his sad stories) and I felt true joy and bliss seeing how far he’s came and to hear stories that I’ve never heard of before. It is truly inspiring and even more so now after buying this book and reading along to this audio book. I hope everybody who read/listened to this book feels similar and I hope it motivates them to become something greater than they realize they can be.
Comparison is the thief of joy, but comparing Bobby’s upbringing to mine, shows me I didn’t have it too bad growing up although there were nights my family didn’t have food and I’d have to eat at a friends house. Sometimes we didn’t have money for bills, but my parents always found a way to make ends meet. It opened my eyes to what the definition of a struggle is and what you really can complain about. I’ve learnt a lot about life through Logics music over the past about 12 years and after reading this book, I’ve learnt even more.
I doubt logic will ever read this but if he does, thank you for everything and I’m extremely thrilled to know that you have the family and life you’ve always wanted and I’m excited to see where life takes you and your family! Seeing you give little Bobby the life that you never had is inspiring beyond words. My upbringing was not that close to yours, but we had a lot of similarities. From mental health issues, seeing drugs and alcohol addiction in my family, both in my immediate family and other relatives, to feeling alone and not having a sense of belonging in this crazy world. I’m 24 now and I am realizing how much I’ve gone through and how much stronger all of it has made me.
This book was incredible and I will probably read it again and listen to the audio book again as well but in the mean time, I’m going to share it to friends to read/listen to who are also true fans of yours who’ve been there during the come up and who are also OG RATTPACK members. I’m also excited for my mom to read this book too and hear you narrate it. She’s heard me talk about you for hours and hours over the years and heard a bunch of your songs (even though she mainly likes country and rock) she still loves your music and she knows I get a lot of my writing skills from your music and what I’ve learned from studying you and other great artists whom you look up to as well.
This book is a 11/10, 6/5 stars, just truly real and raw and unfiltered and I can tell that it’s Bobby talking from the heart and soul and it sounds like he’s speaking to me directly.
Thank you to Bobby for everything and for making me feel like a part of your journey being an OG RATTPACK member and fan and thank you to every single person who has helped him throughout his life so far and who’s helped get him to where he is.

Bobby is an amazing story teller
I think because of Bobby's natural talent and charisma is what makes him an outstanding artist. His life story was so inspiring and heart felt even through the rough times. I don't have the easiest relationship with my parents so the constant want of a connection to them is very relatable to me. It was like hearing someone describe similar aspects of my life. I also loved how casual the dialog was and how honest he was.
Even though I loved listening to this, I wish the time lines for some stories were a little clearer. There were quite a few stories I've heard him talk about on interviews before but I'm a bit of a hard core fan. I'm sure anyone new to the Logic legend will love learning everything this book can offer.

Incredible
Logic is one of the most interesting and influential artists that I have ever listened to. This book is filled with so many things and his story is mind blowing. It also shows that fame and money can lead to depression and anxiety. Logic is truly an amazing person and I am so glad he has found happiness in his life after all the crap he has been through. I highly recommend this book, even if you've never heard his music.
