Publisher's Summary

Ashton is a typical small town where everyone knows everyone else and the pace of life is predictable. No one would suspect that Ashton has drawn powerful demonic beings to it. Planning to gain control of the town - and eventually the world - these evil forces are looking for allies. When Pastor Young and the town's newspaper reporter begin to discover this dark plan, they turn to God for guidance, but others have already succumbed to temptation. As angelic forces rally against the demons, breathtaking visions of spiritual warfare fill each fast-paced chapter.

Richard Ferrone's dramatic narration highlights these powerful illustrations of the strength of prayer and faith. There are more than two million copies of This Present Darkness in print.

Deeply concerned

Believers of the word of God, I pray you would seek discernment concerning these writings.
Consider these Biblical writings ( not direct quotes, rather common teachings)
:Judge not least ye be judged.
:we are all born into sin- with a sin nature
:Jesus cast demons out of man- they were within
:Jesus never turned away a sinner ( much less cast them from his church)
:Sorry on this one if there is a biblical truth to it-Angels gain strength from our prayers? I do believe it is the reverse.
I find these idea’s dangerous, a way to enable us to feel we have not only the right but responsibility to that which our Creator told us explicitly we should not do. Did He not say who can know the heart of a man?
I understand the need one may feel to be an instrument of God and to do good works. Lean on the word of our Lord Jesus, there are books of his teachings that were not put in the Bible by the council. Thomas is one I shall give as an example, it is available on line in pdf form one can download.
The path is narrow please be diligent.
Peace be with you

Excellent as usual, I'm on to book 2!!

One might think there could be no such thing as a Christian Thriller with some horror added in - you'd be wrong! Mr Peretti is excellent at portraying spiritual warfare, even non-believers can feel that in the fight of good vs evil the (little g) "god of this world" ie evil is taking over...temporarily. Of course Jesus wins in the end, He's the only way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6) We all need Him!!
