Publisher's Summary

The Questing Stones have come to Nowherested, and Evelia Greene is finally ready to receive her life's quest. Perhaps she'll be a great warrior, or a wealthy merchant, or a brilliant mage. Perhaps her quest is simply to live a quiet life, constantly honing a craft to the heights of perfection.

Or perhaps the Questing Stones will grant her the legendary mission of popping over to the next village to pick up a loaf of bread.

Wouldn’t that be ridiculous?

Eve can’t even begin to guess how or why she’s come by such an absurd life goal, nor how a level-one messenger girl is supposed to complete anything labeled as legendary, but at least she can be sure of one thing. No matter how many wolves or goblins attack, no matter how many speeding tickets she racks up, no matter how many bakeries spontaneously combust as she steps into town, one way or another, Eve is going to get that goddamned bread.

There just might be a few side quests along the way.

This book contains game elements, good jokes, bad jokes, worse jokes, and language strong enough to lift weights. Please enjoy.

Meh, meh and uhg.

I got 4 chapters in before I couldn't take the sheer Mental deficiency of the writer and by extension the characters, any long.

made up cuss words ....

The author tried the angle of making up cuss words, which in by itself is trying to be creative if they try a variety, but they only made up one phrase. However that being said, the author made a horrible, HUGE error with making said cuss words overly used. You could even hear it in the narrators voice that they were getting irritated. Every time it was used I would stop paying attention to the story because, I would be thinking how many times is the author gonna try say it in the same paragraph.

Overall an Entertaining Listen for RPG Nerds

There are two types of LitRPGs, those that craftily weave the traditional mechanics of various role playing games into a story in a unique and imaginative way that enhances the story and explains things in a way that everyone can enjoy, and the lazy and less satisfying type that is basically just fan fiction woven around whatever game the author is currently fond of. This book is definitely the latter, and you really need to be a RPG gamer dork who revels in lots of arbitrary numbers assigned to physical and magical attributes to fully enjoy this book.In book form, maybe reading off lots of stats and figures practically every page would not be so bad, but listening to them being read out with little frame of reference as to what is a high or low number for each category is truly soul stealing.

With that said, I still managed to enjoy the book overall and thought the story was told in a unique enough way to hold my interest. The main character is very likable, although the dialogue is pretty bog standard novice fanfic level. I was also vaguely annoyed at the trope of having generally physically strong females and weaker, feminine males. It is an overdone thing and just irritating to see it yet again in another book, but at least it isn't done in a super exaggerated way and can be more or less looked over.

I know I sound very harsh about this book, but it is really because I see so much potential in it otherwise. I liked it - I really did. In fact, I'm about to continue the series. It has a good general plot, nice pacing, and a sense of mystery that keeps you reading to find out what happens next and how it all comes together. It's an entertaining listen that is well read, so if you are keen on these sorts of books, you will probably like it too.

Eh, almost gave up

interesting premise but lacking in execution.

I feel like the author has a good story to tell, but the writing falls short. The main characters are not very smart and are not very dedicated to their quests. They make foolish choices and their banter quickly comes off as them being jerks. They fail to actually discuss things with each other and make mistakes that way. Somewhere around halfway I realized that I did not like the main characters. I think there's supposed to be a overarching plot, but it just appears as random events that happen to the MC, without anything in the way of participation by the main cast.

Living proof why terrible shows are so popular

This book will get your hopes up for a good series. If you read them all you will be disappointed. Better not even to start. The books just go downhill from here.

What a waste of a good premise.

Great LitRPG with a twist

I really enjoyed listening to this quest is broken. This book had some really good situational humor. I like the idea of a life quest, and thought that it was well written. I will definitely be picking up the sequel. Great stuff!

A fantastic story.

This was absolutely hilarious yet also incredibly interesting to read. The narrator was perfect, their words clear and expressive, making the story easy to follow along and understand. The story itself was incredibly good, the worldbuilding, characters, and plot getting even deeper and more captivating as you read on. The constant banter between all the characters was phenomenal. Can’t wait to binge the next book too!

Entertaining but not captivating

The story concept was very interesting, but the actual implementation of the story rapidly went straining. Main character can be likend to sweet and sour pork. Delicious at first but mediocre as you eat more. The only real character development is through their stats increasing.

The humor is largely limited to banter between the party members with only a couple instances of actual humor for the reader.

The plot is your typical gone adventuring fantasy without many real trials and tribulations, in other words, no actual tension or drama.

Good book to listen to/read if bores or cannot afford to pay attention.

Not bad, cringey humor at times, but not bad

I overall certainly enjoyed this one, even of I started struggling with it about 2/3 through. It's fairly stereotypical litrpg, with an funny premise (receiving a legendary quest to buy a loaf of bread). Voice actor did a good job as well. I have two main issues with the story. first, in the beginning, the main character makes a lot of noise about adventurers being basically crazy, but in a matter of no time a switch seems to flip with her, making her xp and loot crazy. It's a pretty abrupt about face in my opinion. Second issue is that the attempts at banter in the party just get cringy and repetitive. It was a struggle for me to hear the same jokes over and over, with the attempts at humor once the full party is assembled just falling flat for me.
