Publisher's Summary

A daring deception...

Desperate to escape her vile fiancé, Lady Clara devises a bold lie - that she’s pregnant with another man’s child. With her reputation in tatters, Clara flees to Scotland to live out her days in disgrace, resigned to her fate as a spinster...until she claps eyes on the powerful and wickedly handsome Laird Hunt MacLarin.

She’s the answer to his curse....

Laird of an ancient clan, Hunt needs an heir, but he comes from a long line of men cursed to die before the birth of their firstborn. When the duke of Autenberry approaches him with a proposition - marry my ruined sister - it seems the perfect solution. Even better, the defiant lass stirs him to his very soul.

No escaping the truth...

Except marriage cannot set them free. No matter how much Hunt desires her. No matter how much Clara burns for him. Soon, she is falling for her husband, but is love enough to end the curse? Or is the tragic history of the MacLarin clan doomed to repeat itself?

Unappealing Liar

I really wanted to like this book. I have 3 hours left and I just can't like the heroine. I can't cheer for her because she is just so dishonest that I find her unappealing. I can't understand how the hero likes her...nothing has happened more than 4 days together.
He is a good man and does not deserve a person who would lie about being pregnant , especially when she had a lot of time to tell him the truth. He finds out the truth and then she can't understand why he is mad...really??
I just have a hard time enjoying a book that starts this dishonest. it may be the current environment, but I really hate a person that lies to get their way and does not care about other people's beleifs. Since I started writing this review I hate the heroine even more. I don't know how I am going to feel after another hour!
Don't waste the time or money, if you want characters that you can care about. Only the hero in this story is worthwhile.

My favorite in the series so far

I read a review calling the heroine an Unappealing Liar . I did not find that to be the case at all . She fibbed for a very good reason and almost immediately told the hero . I find that the fib she told made her intelligent and brave . The book reveals this reason. When reading historical romances, one must remember things were very different for women in the past .
I enjoyed This Scot if Mine very much . The author makes you feel the love the Hero and Heroine have for each other .

Loved this Story!

“This Scot of Mine” was a good story and, I loved the characters. The narrator sounds robotic as she reads the story however, she does get much better as the story continues. The dialogue between the main characters I felt was slightly weak but, I did enjoy most of their conversations. This is an audiobook where individual option and perception to like or dislike may differ but for myself, I enjoyed it!

A Curse Trope...

If you're dedicated to the series, its a must read. I will say many of the reviews have been unfair. Obviously, the purpose of this book was twofold. 1. tie up the loose ends regarding Hunt/Clara and 2. create a bridge to the Langley sisters as (with the exception of Enid Weatherton, who should have a story *hint for SJ*) the Autenberry clan are all accounted for.

Now, that doesn't mean the plot was not exasperating. I, personally, think the curse was a little much for this series...this installment just wasn't able to carry it off. I would've preferred another threat for this couple to overcome. Examples: the former fiance following Clara to the Highlands to cause havoc; a plot to overthrow the Laird (Hunt); the vindictive mistress; etc. The curse convulted things and made Scots appear an overly superstitious lot (which wouldn't necessarily be inaccurate as much as it just made you shake your head too much).

Also, did we get resolution on the prized bull? I may have missed it but, ah well.

Overall, I rated as a four star read.

Good but Somewhat Unsatisfying

I liked it… the narrator was great. But there was this whole storyline of why she left London. Insinuations of abuse from the heroine’s ex-fiancé that were never discussed or addressed. It left the book feeling a little lacking. I wanted her to have some kind of closure about what happened in London, and for Hunt to actually wonder what caused her to flee. Instead we get vague details and a fade to black when she explains to her brother what happens. But I don’t want to be all negative. The two main characters were sweet and interesting. Overall, it was a pretty good book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect amount of romance and great detail without being distasteful, great narrative & voices. Amazing accents! I look forward to more like this.

Liked story line

It took too long to resolve the plot. Thought the tension between to the 2 main characters lasted longer than realistic.
