Publisher's Summary

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair....

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything - her family, her future - to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times best-selling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

Everything hurts ans I love it

I already knew going into this that this was a dark Peter Pan retelling but ir wasn't the dark I expected. This was really bittersweet and beauriful. I did cry more than once and I really enjoy having Bell as the voice of the book.

Enchanting

Wickedly wild an amazing read. It teaches us that all love is a different type of love and can only be experienced with that one person. To take those memories as they come and enjoy them because where we end up is truley where we are meant to be.

Delightful New Angle on Peter Pan

What did you love best about Tiger Lily?

I loved her spirit and strength, struggle with conscience

What does Cassandra Morris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

For me a narrator gets 4 stars if they have a good range and ability to change their voice differentiating characters, and is actually performing, not simply reading. 5 Stars means the narrator is an integral part of the story and I would never want them separated from the book. A 3 means I got through the book but struggled in hearing character changes.

But this book kind of falls out of the above criteria because its read in the voice of Tinkerbell, and I'm not clear as to how much differentiation the author desired. As Tinkerbell the voice is definitely girly and squeaky at times, she does a very good job at portraying the emotion of each scene (which helps the listener stay engaged), and I think for the target audience it would be a solid 5.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

SPOILERS
There are 2: when her father is defrocked the devastating consequences, and when Tiger Lily changes her mind about killing Wendy and Peter..and the fall out with the mermaids as a result

Any additional comments?

This is such a great read and original take on a timeless book. It made me appreciate the original story of Peter Pan; and concepts such as non-aging, the psychopathic pirate tendency, communication with fairies is all explored in a way that enriches the tale. Defiantly worth a credit and my time..no fast forwarding or skipping scenes.

How to love

This is a fabulous book about societies, how we fit or don't fit in and love. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Tiger Lily has a new place in my heart. A well deserved 5 stars to this book.

Love all of it!

I loved every piece of this story. Beginning to end. Despite everything I truly truly love how things worked out but there was a lot of pain.
Oddly enough some part of me resonated strongly with the boy who all but worshipped the ground she walked on.
The love story was very romantic and in a lot of the best ways it was subtle.
I think Tink was a great POV to hear the story from. Especially since I never heard the not disney version of Peter Pan. I found this version to be a lot more enjoyable! I will definitely be putting forth an effort to learn/ find out more of this store. I am so thrilled that Wendy was not a big part of the store and to hear how strong Tiger Lily is. Only thing that still kinda hurts my heart is that Tiger Lily's relationship with moon eyes could have been a lot better I feel.
Anyway, all in all a credit here is worth it.

Not A Peter Pan Retelling ..

If you are looking for a YA retelling for Peter Pan and want to fall in love with Neverland all over again THIS IS NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU man, that was such snooze fest there was no magic at all and I didn't like a single character in the book, including Tinker Bell and she doesn't have a role in the story !! .. I didn't like the relationships or the setting and specially Tiger Lily, she is such a boring person to follow around I wonder why Tinker Bell was interested in her I would say this is more of a pocahontas retelling more than Peter Pan overall this was a huge let down specially after reading the original story, there was no magic and nothing to look forward to :( I love Casandra Morris and it is always a pleasure to hear her and she is the reason why I could finish this book .. she is so suitable for it
