Story
Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, author and illustrator Jeff Kinney introduces us to an unlikely hero. As Greg says in his diary: Just don't expect me to be all "Dear Diary" this and "Dear Diary" that. Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Publisher's Summary
The New York Times best selling cartoonist behind the nationally acclaimed comic strip Pearls Before Swine, Stephan Pastis has won raves for Timmy Failure, the hilarious first book in a new series for young listeners. With the help of a polar bear named Total, Timmy Failure hopes to strike it rich by running the best detective agency around. The only problem is that our supremely confident hero is often more bumbling than brainy.

Need the illustrations
This was a cute, funny story. We were unfamiliar with the series when I bought. Both my son and I love audiobooks, and this one is truly well-read. The only problem is that you miss the cute illustrations. We read the 2nd in the series aloud ourselves, and access to the illustrations made a difference.

Good book but a little overrated
Yeah I really liked this book a lot. The charterers are likable, the narrator is OUTSTANDING but some times I feel like the book can drag on a little bit. I mean trust me I like Timmy failure as much as the next guy but I feel like this one is just a little boring in some areas. 100% not as bad as the second one though.
