Story
Five teenagers from different parts of the country. Three girls. Two guys. Four straight. One gay. Some rich. Some poor. Some from great families. Some with no one at all. All living their lives as best they can, but all searching . . . for freedom, safety, community, family, love. What they don't expect, though, is all that can happen when those powerful little words "I love you" are said for all the wrong reasons.

Matthew Turner doesn't have faith in anything. Not in family - his is a shambles after his younger brother was bullied into suicide. Not in so-called friends who turn their backs when things get tough. Not in some all-powerful creator who lets too much bad stuff happen. And certainly not in some "It Gets Better" psychobabble. No matter what his girlfriend Hayden says about faith and forgiveness, there's no way Matt's letting go of blame.

For as long as she can remember, it's been just Ariel and Dad. Ariel's mom disappeared when she was a baby. Dad says home is wherever the two of them are, but Ariel is now 17, and after years of new apartments, new schools, and new faces, all she wants is to put down some roots. Complicating things are Monica and Gabe, both of whom have stirred a different kind of desire.

Publisher's Summary
Named a Top Ten Amazing Audiobook for Young Adults by the Young Adult Library Services Associate (YALSA)!
Five teens victimized by sex trafficking try to find their way to a new life in this riveting companion to the New York Times best-selling Tricks from Ellen Hopkins, author of Crank.
In her best-selling novel, Tricks, Ellen Hopkins introduced us to five memorable characters tackling enormous questions: Eden, the preacher's daughter who turns tricks in Vegas and is helped into a child prostitution rescue; Seth, the gay farm boy disowned by his father who finds himself without money or resources other than his own body; Whitney, the privileged kid coaxed into the life by a pimp and whose dreams are ruined in a heroin haze; Ginger, who runs away from home with her girlfriend and is arrested for soliciting an undercover cop; and Cody, whose gambling habit forces him into the life but who is shot and left for dead.
And now, in Traffick, these five are faced with the toughest question of all: Is there a way out? How these five teenagers face the aftermath of their decisions and experiences is the soul of this story that exposes the dark, ferocious underbelly of the child trafficking trade. Heart wrenching and hopeful, Traffick takes us on five separate but intertwined journeys through the painful challenges of recovery, rehabilitation, and renewal to forgiveness and love. All the way home.

voice to characters
I love Ellen Hopkins books and this put a nice twist to following the characters. Enjoyed very much although I do miss the patterns of the words on pages so will still pick up the book and add to my collection.

its a series, so be consistent
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
it drove me crazy that they didn't use the same voice actors from the first book. its a series, and a lot of different main characters. using the same voices would have added a lot of continuity.

good
I don't have a huge review for this, as I mentioned most of the stuff in my review for "Tricks", but I thought it was a good book. I like hearing the perspectives of the side characters. It was very sweet and I found myself rooting for all of the characters to succeed in the improvement in their life.

Excellent book of HOPE!
This was a wonderful book, of course it was the 2nd book in a 2-book set, the 1st book being "Tricks"
The way it literally began exactly where Tricks ended. The stories of the 5 "main" people these books have followed (so to speak) has been amazing, sad at times. However the hope each character brings is such a great lesson to take away from such horrible experiences. This book series most definitely shares the most real & raw things that literally happen each and every day. To show that with all of the horrible ways people, especially young people, can "fall into" or "be forced" into ways of life that are almost hard to believe. In this book I was thrilled with the way each and every one of the 5 main characters. Found that their is help & hope out there. That through all of the ugly in this world. There is beauty and HOPE!

Simplistic, but good YA fiction.
I enjoyed this book, along with her others. The story concluded a little neatly, but it was interesting. Recommend.

Completely loved this book. Ellen Hopkins is such an amazing writer. I never have any trouble getting into and staying in her books. I will forever look for new books and re-listen and re-read her old books.
