Story
While Hannah speeds through a lengthy holiday checklist, drama in town grows like Santa’s waistline on Christmas Eve. Her sister, Andrea, wants to stave off the blues by helping out at The Cookie Jar, Michele’s love life is becoming complicated, Lisa needs Hannah’s advice, and Delores has a Christmas secret she’s not willing to share. But nothing dampens the holiday mood more than the chilling mystery surrounding the man found near death in an abandoned storefront two doors down from Hannah’s bakery. The befuddled John Doe can’t recall a thing about himself.

Publisher's Summary
Spring has sprung in Lake Eden, Minnesota, but Hannah Swensen doesn’t have time to stop and smell the roses - not with hot cross buns to make, treats to bake, and a sister to exonerate!
Hannah’s up to her ears with Easter orders rushing in at The Cookie Jar, plus a festive meal to prepare for a dinner party at her mother’s penthouse. But everything comes crashing to a halt when Hannah receives a panicked call from her sister Andrea - Mayor Richard Bascomb has been murdered...and Andrea is the prime suspect.
Even with his reputation for being a bully, Mayor Bascomb - or “Ricky Ticky”, as Hannah’s mother likes to call him - had been unusually testy in the days leading up to his death, leaving Hannah to wonder if he knew he was in danger. Meanwhile, folks with a motive for mayoral murder are popping up in Lake Eden. Was it a beleaguered colleague? A political rival? A jealous wife? Or a scorned mistress?
As orders pile up at The Cookie Jar - and children line up for Easter egg hunts - Hannah must spring into investigation mode and identify the real killer...before another murder happens!

Couldn't handle the narrator
Story is kind of meh. The narrator is terrible. Grating and overly dramatic. Sorry but I tried listening in small increments but at Chapter 11 (yes, I gave it a good shot) I had to call it quits. It's a shame as I usually enjoy these mysteries.

Pretty Good But I was Annoyed
This book was good but not at all my favorite from Joann Fluke. I really like the Hannah Swenson stories but the Suspicious mind and logical mind banter was simply annoying to me!

Disappointed
I love this series, so I was excited. But the quality of the books has been going down lately.
Too much of the suspicious vs rational mind. Too much of Hannah acting dumb. Too much of Hannah sleeping in the books, if she was depressed, address it already. I think it would be awesome to have an established character go into therapy. Also, just let Norman either get a yes from Hannah or have him move on.
He is too nice for her.
The other thing that disappointed me was the recipes. I listen to 10 minutes of stories, then 15 minutes of recipies. If you want to write another cookbook, Joanne Fluke, then go write one. Try to remember that you are writing a mystery series as well.
I don't know, everyone. I think Hannah Swensen might be nearing the end.

Worst book ever
Her suspicious and unsuspicious mind should have told the author not to write this book. I have bought everyone if Joanne Flukes books in this series. The whole plot took up one chapter. The rest was a cookbook with nonsense thrown in. Don’t waste your money. The narrator was also awful this time. If you just listened to the voices and weren’t told who was speaking you would never guess who it was. Everyone sounded the same. It’s time to give up writing if this is what you’re going to produce.

I await each one of these books to come out because the Character build has been so great you can’t wait to find out what’s going on with everyone but the banter overtook ever chapter and so much inner self I was losing interest and I couldn’t believe that , I’m still glad I used a credit to purchase overall .

Hannah is going crazy
What is with Hannah's inner dialogue? The constant rational side vs suspicious side thing was tolerable when it was only occasionally. Now its at least once a chapter, referring to herself in the third person and takes up a quarter of the chapter. The chapter break down is 1/4th Hannah thinking in the third person, 1/4th to 1/8th actually story, 1/2 to 1/3rd recipe walkthrough.
Story was a bit more back to original Hannah story despite that breakdown. Wish she would just pick Norman or move out of his house. She's been coming off as selfish since she turned down both marriage proposals from Mike and Norman and dragging it out for years (or months depending on the inconsistency of the story plot lines). She at least only seemed to have a friend type relationship with Mike in this book and referred to only Norman as her boyfriend. So, progress. There's only so much will she wont she that is tolerable and that was passed a long time ago.

Disappointing
I got this one right away because the other ones were so good. I don’t know what happened with this one;?author was on deadline or what but the majority of this book—and I don’t mean a page or two-whole chapters are all recipes. The story was predictable and lackluster.

Is Hannah losing it?
I have read/listened to all of the Hannah books and honestly this one was the worst. The characters are so juvenile and not so very bright. The author did throw in a couple big words but that did not help at all. There were so many mistakes in this book. And it was so repetitive with the coffee, the baking, the inner dialogue (which was the worst) and etc. Too many to list. If Hannah is having problems she should write in a therapist for Hannah to talk to and maybe help solve the problem of Mike or Norman..
