Publisher's Summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author Kendare Blake returns with the highly anticipated third book in the Three Dark Crowns series! And while Arsinoe, Mirabella, and Katharine all have their own scores to settle, they aren’t the only queens stirring things up on Fennbirn Island.

Queen Katharine has waited her entire life to wear the crown. But now that she finally has it, the murmurs of dissent grow louder by the day. There’s also the alarming issue of whether or not her sisters are actually dead - or if they’re waiting in the wings to usurp the throne.

Mirabella and Arsinoe are alive, but in hiding on the mainland and dealing with a nightmare of their own: being visited repeatedly by a specter they think might be the fabled Blue Queen. Though she says nothing, her rotting, bony finger pointing out to sea is clear enough: return to Fennbirn.

Jules, too, is in a strange place - in disguise. And her only confidants, a war-gifted girl named Emilia and her oracle friend Mathilde, are urging her to take on a role she can’t imagine filling: a legion-cursed queen who will lead a rebel army to Katharine’s doorstep.

This is an uprising that the mysterious Blue Queen may have more to do with than anyone could have guessed - or expected.

Hurried ending

I was really enjoying the story I feel like it ended abruptly. I hope the next book is better.

Good

I really wanted the storyline to speed up. I think she should have made it a trilogy.

It only gets wilder!!

I have a BAD habit of powering through series and never making a review for any of the books in the series because I couldn't stop reading. This is one of those series. I couldn't stop.

The cliffhanger in this is driving me wild and I can't wait for the next story! That being said this story is getting pretty intense! Mirabella and Arsinoe are on the mainland. Mirabella is fitting in ok, but of course Arsinoe is not and fighting it every step of the way! This "blue queen" that is seeing them is sending Arsinoe visions of a girl so much like herself from years ago. Trying to give her clues, but clues to what? Another very well thought out plot twist from this amazing writer. There are so many things that have unraveled and come back together and unraveled again to make for some epic storytelling! They are being summoned back to the island. Its not through with them yet...

Jules, this tough heartbroken girl. She is on the island in hiding. With people rallying to her saying she is the Legion Cursed Queen who is the only person who can stop Queen Katherine from destroying the island.

I cannot WAIT to see what happens in the next book! This series is a top favorite of mine! I can't get enough of it!

Weird pronunciation

Katherine is pronounced Katter-ine and Arsinoe is pronounced Arson-oy, have first read the book this made listening to it very odd. But the story is great I enjoyed the audio much more than the physical version.

THE STORY DOESN'T END?? AAAA

I thought this was a trilogy and I was bracing for it, but it's not! There are a lot of big important scenes in this book and I can't wait to hear how it all ends! Oof! Everything is so tense and that cliffhanger was an insult to my heart and emotions!

Sisters in Death

Not everyone is as they seem and rarely do they conform to what society labels them. Three sisters must decide who they want to be in the midst of royalty, rivalries, and the unknown. Read it, I know you'll love it. #SiblingStories #Darkmotivations #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

A whole lot of walking

Think middle book of any series, or part one of the Hunger Games finale. That is the feel I get with this one. It's pretty much just a circle back to the almost end of book two. If you like the series you will like it. If you are on the fence this is pretty meh and just get the cliff note.

slow and boring

This book loses the pace and rhythm of the previous books in the series. I was left not caring about characters I previously cared about and with a story that seemed contrived.

That Ending Though...

So I love this story-line and I think Amy Landon is a great narrator. However, though I love it, I am frustrated to have to wait, yet again, for a final installment. I long for the return of the single-book story. I’d settle for a duology. Teen fiction is spending too much energy on multiple installments.

How long must I wait for a conclusion?

NOT A TRILOGY AFTER ALL!!!!!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

Apparently, I was under the impression that this was a Trilogy Series however, as the third book approached it's not so conducive end, it was only then that I realized, that it's to be continued!!!!

Needless to say, I am quite happy with this revelation as I was a bit maudlin about the series ending. So, knowing that there is to be at least one more book in the Pseudo-Trilogy is quite exciting and fortunate for both myself, and almost certainly, for other true fans of this Great Series!!!!!
