Story
Once upon a time, when her dad married Sage’s mom, Daisy was thrilled to get a bright and shiny new sister. But Sage was beautiful and popular, everything Daisy was not, and she made sure Daisy knew it. Sage didn't have Daisy's smarts—she had to go back a grade to enroll in the fancy rich-kid school. So she used her popularity as a weapon, putting Daisy down to elevate herself. After the divorce, the stepsisters' rivalry continued until the final, improbable straw: Daisy married Sage's first love, and Sage fled California.

Publisher's Summary
Lexi Titan can just see the headlines. All of Titanville will be buzzing. Not that she has any other choice. Faced with exactly thirty days to come up with two million dollars, she is out of options. Marry Cruz Rodriguez or lose everything - the successful day spa she built herself, her tyrant of a father's respect. And the long-standing competition with her sisters for the family business.
Cruz has money, success, smoldering good looks - everything but the blue blood needed to become a true member of Texas society. If Lexi agrees to be his fiancée for six months, lending him her famous father's influence and connections, he'll hand her a check on the spot. And in six months they'll go their separate ways.
But neither one is prepared for their long-ago shared passion to throw a wrench into what would seem to be the perfect deal.

Great start for the Lone Star Sisters series!
Whenever a Susan Mallery book is added on audible, it is an automatic buy for me. I don't even bother to read the preview and I'm never disappointed. This is book 1 of the Lone Star sisters series and is about the 3 daughters of a Texan Tycoon. Lexi is deseperately trying to figure out a solution to a business loan that was called in. She runs into an old flame Cruz Rodriguez who offers to barter with her: Her connections to Texan high society and a fake engagement with an expiration date in exchange for the money she needs. As soon as these two seal the deal, the sparks fly, emotions run haywire and old feelings resurface. The narrator was excellent and I look forward to the next books in the series. I'm hoping that Susan will have a book for Dana, my favorite character.

Under Her Skin
Unexpected in all the best ways. I loved how these characters come together, and the tone of the whole book it is interesting and now I want and need to listen to the rest of the series!
Cruz was awesome and infuriating all at the same time the way he is with his daughter I wanted to shake the man and how Lexi showed him that there is more to being a father than just writing a cheque. I liked that.
The father-daughter relationship between Jed and all his daughters is another man I wanted to shake this man I swear…
But yeah if you’re a lover of romance this book is for you I thoroughly enjoyed all the ins and outs.
The narration was good as well I think this might be a first for me by Julie and I think she did a great job.

Mediocre
I first became acquainted with Susan Mallery through her "Buchanan" series and fell in love with her work. However, I have been disappointed with each series since. I was hoping that this new series would capture some of the magical mixture of humor and romance that I originally found in her work, but instead I found this cast of characters to be shallow and not very funny at all. I hope the next book is better, but at this point I've learned not to expect much better than a series of mediocre characters fumbling through a lackluster romance. Oh, and the narrator was awful!

Not Bad
I've listened to quite a few of Susan Mallery's books and this one was good. I was a bit scared after reading the other reviews of the series, but took a chance and was pleasantly pleased. Not sure Susan will ever get back to the level of excitement she had in her Buchanan series, but this one was entertaining

Poor Narration
I’m a big fan of Mallery and I want to like the premise of this book but the narration is so half-assed and one-note it’s really difficult. You can tell that she is reading slowly at parts, and employing more effort at pronouncing the next word than putting emotion into the character. Especially where she voices the Latino characters, it sounds like an amateur performance.
Perhaps this is an early work of hers but I will try to avoid this narrator from now on.

Trivial
The characters and their actions were uninteresting and shallow. The narrator was difficult to listen so I skipped over parts to try to get to the plot. Not worth my time.

This one surprised me and was much better than expected. I hope the next two in the series keep up with this one. Credit worthy listen.

A Poor Performance
The story is fun, and the book is fairly well written. However, the narration nearly ruins it. I seriously considered trying to return the book, and I won't buy another book narrated by Julie Francis. Very disappointed!

"Very Good Listen"
I also became acquainted with Susan Mallery through her "Buchanan" series. (which was great) I have to agree her "Sweet" series was not that good. I truley enjoyed listening to this book. "Under Her Skin" has complex characters, mystery in the plot, and a gorgeous lover who finally realizes "love is all you need." I can't wait for book two. I thought the narrator was very good.
