A USA Today Bestseller!

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new steamy, STEMinist novella…

A scientist should never cohabitate with her annoyingly hot nemesis—it leads to combustion.

Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always. Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn…

As an environmental engineer, Mara knows all about the delicate nature of ecosystems. They require balance. And leaving the thermostat alone. And not stealing someone else’s food. And other rules Liam, her detestable big-oil lawyer of a roommate, knows nothing about. Okay, sure, technically she’s the interloper. Liam was already entrenched in his aunt’s house like some glowering grumpy giant when Mara moved in, with his big muscles and kissable mouth just sitting there on the couch tempting respectable scientists to the dark side…but Helena was her mentor and Mara’s not about to move out and give up her inheritance without a fight.

The problem is, living with someone means getting to know them. And the more Mara finds out about Liam, the harder it is to loathe him…and the easier it is to love him.

I’m slightly embarrassed to say I put a pillow over my face, with my phone laying on my chest while it was on speaker, so that I could have a “surround sound” experience for the last chapter because it was so good. This story is very cute and a slight enemy’s to lovers, good addition to the trilogy.

A girl says her wishes out loud and it comes true

The time hopping wasn't great. I'd have much rather we got to see them grow and interact, Esp at the start when he was being nasty too. Which we don't see.
And her female and male characters are all the same. Very noticble when you binge read. It's just can't any of these women have a brain to when a guy likes them? Do they all need to be that thick? In one book the guy says he loves her and she's still dense. This book exhibits every evolutionary psych male response and she's still dense. Do the guys have to be all passive. When I say passive I mean never telling her he likes her, never asking out even.
Lastly, the sex scene was a disappointment. Think Bridgerton season 2 disappointment.

Not as good as the others by author

I loved "The Love Hypothesis" and have listened to it several times, so I was very excited for the STEMinist novellas. I enjoyed this story up until the last half hour....

*Spoiler Alert*

...which was all one long sex scene. I don't love descriptive sex scenes, but my issue was more that it came on so suddenly that I actually kept wondering if it was a dream sequence. I would have liked more development of them turning from friends into lovers, but I realize that there's only so much time in a novella. Despite a few things I didn't like, I will still be buying the next novella and don't regret purchasing this one.

Good Build-Up, Resolution Rushed
