Publisher's Summary

Self-made business owner Dale McGuire has always enjoyed two things in life: women and fast cars. Now in her mid-30s, she's restless and can't work out why. Then one day a 10-year-old boy turns up, claiming to be her son, and her simple ordered world turns upside down.

Rebecca Harper bears the emotional scars of her father's crimes, and now she has two rules: never let anyone get too close and never admit weakness. Thanks to an anonymous egg donor, infertility didn't stop her from having her son Jake. Now pregnant for a second time, she's horrified when Jake brings home the woman he believes is his other mother.

When distrust turns to understanding and passion, can Dale and Rebecca, two women bound by fate, make a family neither expected?

OMG OMG OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK

How can I fully explain how much I love this story? I love every part of it, the ups and downs, the drama, the happiness, the love. And also the characters, I think I'll never forget them, they live in my heart now, Dale, Becca, Jake, Sam, Val, they were all unique and real.

The narrator did a fantastic job giving them each their own voice, perfectly transmitting every emotion, both good and bad. I felt everything the characters went through, like I was there with them and knew them my whole life.

I cannot recommend this book enough, I feel like I will never make it justice even if I use all the atoms in the universe to write about it. To anyone reading my meager review, do yourself a favor and buy this book, you won't regret it.

Jenny Frame and Nicola Victoria Vincent are a perfect match

Frame is one of my favorite authors of this genre, and Vincent makes her works come to life. As a queer woman who has listened to dozens if not hundreds of romance novels over the years, I recommend this and every other Frame/Vincent audiobook without reservation.

A reading trip worth taking

Jenny Frame found a great twist on ye ole sperm donation trip when her main character Dale M. (Scottish accent fantastically performed by reader Nicola Vic Vincent) donates her eggs to a donation center. And low and behold, her unknown progeny shows up at her doorstep. Its quite convincing and enchantingly funny. A tiny spoiler

The wee-un is a great twist as well. Incredible plot imho. Your mind is a devious trap Jenny Frame.

I felt Jake was completely realistic regardless of his high IQ or maybe because of it. I loved the dynamics of Mommy meeting Mom. And between Dale and Rebecca the sparks fly from the get go.

Loved every turn and twist.

The narrator Nicola Victoria Vincent, aka Nicola 'Virtuosity' Victoria Vincent was brilliant. I couldn't have listened to a finer crafted narration. She obviously put some serious time into making these characters work in her mind. Love, loved, loved it. I think the Scottish accent was superb and exactly what this book should sound like. If Jenny has anyone else lined up for her next 10 books she should definitely scratch them and rehire Nicola on retainer for the duration. I have GOT to find me a Scottish woman now. lol Also laughed a lot when Jake started asking all the stereotypical Scottish traits. I was waiting for a remark about William Wallace somewhere in there too. But yes I realize Jake is 10.

A few notes of disagreement:
The "bad guy" should have been wrapped up with some actual written consequence. You know who I mean.
And the son, Jake, was somehow socialized rather quickly for all his high IQ and maturity. I would have thought there might have been some quirks that young Mia would have noted but decided to let go on her side since she really liked him.
