Four teenagers awaken in a scorched cornfield with no memory of how they got there. All they know is that there were five of them when they found the carcass of the mutilated cow.

Not great.

I get the feeling that Michael McBride just threw this inadequate short story together for whatever reason. The only saving grace is the author's afterword which is kind of interesting. As for the narration, Joe Hempel does his best, but it just isn't good enough.
