Publisher's Summary

Victor Morgan’s entire life has been in the limelight. Groomed by his fierce mother as a piano prodigy, intent on using him to build a legacy for the Morgan name.

But legacies require the utmost in care. Any little disaster can cause a mountain of problems.

After a 17th birthday party ends in catastrophe, a fight with his parents sends Victor out into the world for the first time on his own. With his Academy team and Sang by his side, it’s everything he’s wanted for years. It’s his time to get out from under his parents’ oppressive control and finally be himself.

But Victor is a local celebrity in the Charleston community. His name and face have been everywhere. His every move is noticed. When his actions lead to the risk of a very public exposure of himself and his team, including thwarting Sang’s chances at remaining a Ghost Bird, Victor realizes the life his mother built may jeopardize everything. The Morgan name may just be his downfall.

There may be no escape. The only way to save Sang and his team might be to give up what he really wants more than anything: to finally be the real Victor Morgan.

What happened…?

The ridiculously extensive wait for this story is NOT worth your credit. I’m so confused. The characters don’t act like their former selves. Even Natalie Eaton’s amazing talents have matured, so that the characters aren’t as fresh-faced (voiced) as before. The verbiage is even off. It’s clear that CL Stone lost her love for this story, and seems to just be checking off the boxes at this point.

Volto, check.
Multiple characters that are duplicates of each other, check.
Sang whining and blushing every third paragraph, checkkity check check.

At this point, if CL Stone wants to resurrect this story, I’d say to bring the characters forward, so they’ve aged WITH us. Maybe separate them and bring them back during college or something. Because I can’t do any more of this naive-blonde girl-you really think I’m pretty?-crap. There’s been an influx of superior stories since the ghost bird series moved out. I dare CL Stone to do better and earn my money.

News reporter?? Apparently the narrater is now

Not finished the book yet, and having a hard time. The narrator COMPLETELY changed how she narrates this book and sounds like she should be reporting the news versus reading a story. Its very hard to listen to. I've invested my time in all the books this far, so I'm going to continue, but I'll give zero stars for performance. The story is really dragging too. We need to speed some things up. I'll update my rating on the story once I'm finished, but so far dreading listening to this awful narration to continue. I'm probably going to read most of it myself to save myself from the pain I feel listening to this 🙄

update: story did not changed my rating even lower. This story keeps dragging on and I'm losing interest.

Chapter 13 is in the wrong place

The storyline is great as usual. I love this series.

They made a mistake when editing the audio however and Chapter 13 belongs earlier in the story during Victor’s birthday party. :)

Loved it!

I think this is the best one yet! So much happens in this book, and decisions made that remind you they are teenagers who are still learning about life. Lots of progression in the story arc.

order of chapters

the chapters are out of order which is annoying and would be super confusing if I didn't read the actual book.

Messed up audio

The story itself was good but because it was out of order It's confused me quite a bit. It's been months and the chapter order still hasn't been fixed. Rearrange chapter 13 so it is in the correct order.
As for the voice actor please don't change up the voices. We are over 10 books in. Any voice change right now is confusing and not necessary. We fell in love with the original voices.
Other than that I enjoyed how Sang is finally coming out of her shell and the guys are giving her more room to breathe.

Not all chapters are in the audio narration

The narrator themselves did a good job but at least one entire chapter (Pietoso) has been left out of the audio narration, skipping a significant set of events. From getting the author's newsletters I understand that there was an issue with the print copy of the book where some of the chapters were out of order, that may be the case here and the 'missing' chapter may be narrated later on but that's not exactly ideal for story flow. In this digital age, there's no technical reason why the audio file couldn't be re-edited to put things in the correct order and updated for all the existing purchase copies. That's what they did for the e-book. And this is symptomatic of the over story of the book lacking polish and nuance. I understand the author was under immense pressure due to multiple delays in developing the book (some she couldn't control) but it overall is the weakest in the series. Another couple weeks or a month of delay in order to fine tune the plot and put in some additional editing would have done it immense good. I hope the author takes the time necessary to get the next up to the the same quality as the first 12 and that this one remains the outlier of mediocrity.

Great story, narration a little off

I am a huge fan or this series. Natalie does an amazing job bringing the characters to life. There was a decent time gap between this book and the last. It feels as though maybe she forgot how she made all the guys sound? Usually she's able to make all 9 guys sound different and recognizable. This time around I struggled to tell the difference between some of them. Silas accent wasn't present for half his lines either. Overall, she did an amazing job as usual. Just seemed to fall out of touch a tad with the cast.

It's still a great story and performed very well. You should definitely pick it up!
