Publisher's Summary

The church becomes more divided each day.

Many seek reassurance or perceived unity by creating doctrinal statements, but that misses the point. Doctrine is necessary, but it is not the solution.

In his new book Until Unity, New York Times best-selling author Francis Chan tells listeners that the real problem is shallow or even nonexistent love for each other. Do we truly understand the gospel? Do we believe in the miracle of the Holy Spirit in us? As believers, Christians are supposed to yield the fruit of supernatural love for one another. Instead, we allow jealousy and selfish ambition to prevail.

God hates this division between his children - and our indifference to it. He has provided the solution to the church through gifting of leaders to equip his people in a way that leads to “unity of the faith” - but not at the expense of truth or holiness. Believers have done a poor job at this, but we can hear the call and be “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).

Although the Bible commands unity, some will resist these unifying efforts. We see it every day. We have to hate sin, love truth, and pursue unity for the church. This is messy, but no matter what, Christians must give everything they have to the pursuit of a unified, restored Bride.

Worth the listen/read.

Still chewing on it. Still praying on it. Very intense information that spoke to exactly my current struggles. Im overwhelmed by conviction and thankful for the bravery of the author to take a hard stand on a topic that will undoubtedly bring forth criticism. I have so much love for Chan. This book is, in my opinion, unapologetically different than his previous books. It’s bolder and written with so much transparency. I love that he used so much scripture. There are portions I’m pouring over a few more times.

Good message Not so good performance

This is an important topic, but it's very hard to listen to. I feel like I'm being yelled at all the time. The author is passionate, for sure. The message is good but the very loud "shouting at you" performance makes it almost impossible to listen to. Probably better read than listened to. A disappointment.

The diagnosis and the Lord's prescription

Not an earth shattering message or ground breaking study but rather a soul shaking scriptural plea for our humble response to God's will for unity in the Church. An essential read for Christ's followers.

Needed conviction!

Very convicting plea from one of God’s prophets that is critical for those who love and care for the Body of Christ. Very helpful insight for prioritizing our heart’s desires in serving God and the impact to the world that results. May God forgive our unwillingness to love and repair relationships and may the Holy Spirit give us love for each other.

overwhelming truth told in love

For such a time as theses. Over the years church unity has been on my heart. My favorite chapter in the Bible is John 17 as my children and friends know. the deeper we love God and others the more we can understand (in part) how Jesus wants He church to walk in His love.
God has used Francis to teach about unity in a simple way using spiritual truth . God is deeming my faith and deeper need for humility in my life . to live for Christ . To deny the flesh. Putting others needs before my own.
No Christian is a island. we all have spiritual gifts . All equally useful Within the church body . imagine when everyone sees the body in unity bonding as Jesus say it can in john 17 . the beauty of the United.
