Story
In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back. They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

Action-packed from the start, Hidden Order demonstrates yet again why Brad Thor is the "master of thrillers". A string of high-profile kidnappings has Washington, D.C., in a frenzy. When the victims begin turning up dead, frenzy turns to panic. And when the ransom demand is finally made public, panic will turn to terror. In Brad Thor's riveting new thriller, the stakes have never been higher, nor the lines between good and evil so hard to discern.

A prelude to Hidden Order, Brad Thor's most recent pulse-pounding Scot Harvath thriller.
Written by: Brad Thor
Publisher's Summary
From number-one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor.
As a storm rages across the Mediterranean Sea, a terrifying distress call is made to the Italian Coast Guard. Days later, a body washes ashore.
Identified as a high value terrorism suspect (who had disappeared three years prior), his name sends panic through the Central Intelligence Agency. Where was he headed? What was he planning? And could he be connected to the "spectacular attack" they have been fearing all summer?
In a race against time, the CIA taps an unorthodox source to get answers: Navy SEAL turned covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath. Hired on a black contract, Harvath will provide the deniability the United States needs while he breaks every rule along the way.
Packed with pulse-pounding action, fascinating characters, and electrifying intrigue, Brad Thor does it again and proves why he is known around-the-world as the "Master of Thrillers".
Includes a bonus interview with the author.

Another Thor classic
Any additional comments?
I first rated this as 4/5, but a few hours later, I changed it to 5/5.
Why? First, Thor always has the best plot lines. His stories are relevant, in depth, with plenty of twists and turns. It was another classic Thor novel.
Why then did I first give it 4 stars? Harvath is turning into a cliche for me. Maybe it's because of the number of interviews Thor does and how much press he does, but many catch phrases or lines of Harvath, I've actually heard Thor say before. One other things that Thor does that irks me is when he has a character from a foreign country say something like, "We are going to, as the Americans say, wipe the floor with them." It seems like a cheat-line that's also unbelievable. If someone says some random, colloquial term from another country, they don't state the country of origin.
Since Act of War, Thor's writing has become more and more directed at the extreme right sect of politics. That's not a problem for me, but I have noticed that his writing has taken quite a drastic, direct, right slant.
That all being said, I still think this book was great, and it was hard for me to give this a 5/5, because I didn't necessarily enjoy it as much as I enjoyed other 5/5 books, but this was another typical Thor - no surprises in that sense. The plot and story was amazing. I'm just enjoying Harvath less and less with each book.

Not up to Bard Thor-Standard
Yes, I've read all of this series but this seemed to be shorter than most and much less climactic at the end. I was actually alarmed that it was over. I LoVE Brad's writing and the story lines but this felt manufactured and less full and robust.

WOW!! Great novel!
Brad Thor has written one Scot Harvath novel every year beginning in 2002. His first Harvath novel, The Lions of Lucerne, is among the best debut novel I have ever read, Every novel since has been a solid 5 star thriller, but in my opinion none have been better than The Lions of Lucerne until Use of Force. I have nothing concerning content to add to the publisher's summary, so I'l observe that Thor is almost as great at espionage thrillers as Mark Greaney and Ben Coes. The Harvath character has aged well during the last 16 years as he has moved from Secret Service, to CIA asset, to top operative of the Carlson Group, and during the next novel as working leader of CIA subcontractor the Carlson Group. Brad Thor is a must listen author. Narrator Armand Schultz had become the voice of Scot Harvath.

Everything As Expected, but A Bit Rushed
Scot Harvath & Reed Carlton Group as it should be. However, this particular story line seemed very rushed. The way all of the loose ends were tied up left quite a bit to be desired in my opinion.
I could have also done without the authors unrelated narrative at the end. That sort of thing bring little to no value to me, especially for this sort of novel. Honestly, who cares about the tasks the author has to go through for pulp-style spy novels?
